The Rebbe's teaching on what brings the redemption closer — and what each Jew can do:
Our deeds bring Moshiach. Our actions directly affect the redemption, above all teshuvah (IK 4062); Moshiach is standing "behind the wall," waiting for us to strengthen Torah, mitzvos and teshuvah and to inspire others to do so (IK 3292). The Previous Rebbe's call — "immediately to teshuvah, immediately to redemption" — asks for immediate teshuvah in response to hardship (IK 023). Preparing for Moshiach means Torah study, heartfelt Jewish feeling and daily action (IK 8347), and increasing Torah and mitzvos (IK 8489, 8496, 5641).
Spreading the wellsprings. Spreading Chassidus outward is the essential preparation for Moshiach's coming (IK 1292, 773, 4552, 4712), and learning the inner dimension of Torah hastens the redemption while neglecting it delays it (IK 3682, 7721). Don't delay: every moment of postponement lengthens the exile (IK 1157).
Love and unity. Since the exile came through baseless hatred, boundless love for every Jew — even without reason — is its remedy (IK 1162, 8869). Farbrengens foster unconditional love and bring the redemption (IK 4135), and Jewish unity through Torah and mutual responsibility prepares for it (IK 042, 9305, 8628). Acts of kindness such as gemach loans hasten it (IK 5132).
Purity and education. Personal and communal purity leads to redemption (IK 5583, 6253); building and maintaining a mikveh is a direct preparation for it (IK 1777, 2714). Self-sacrifice for pure Jewish education brings the redemption (IK 940, 10829, 7705, 9941).
Jewish women. Just as righteous women brought the redemption from Egypt, Jewish women today have a unique power to hasten the final redemption (IK 6044, 6142, 7909, 7059).
