בנועם ובעתם קבלתי מכתביו בם כותב ע"ד הסדר דלפני ר"ה ואח"כ אשר עכבו התלמידים וכו' והחי' את נפשי בבשורה משמחת זו אשר הולכים צעד אחר צעד בהכנת הענינים שיהיו כלים לביאת משיח צדקנו, ואין להתרשם ולהתפעל ממה שנדמה שההליכה היא לאט לאט מועט מהמדה כי א"א לשער אמיתת ההליכה וע"פ הנרמז בסוף אגרת התשובה שהעתקת הצל בארץ טפח הוא לפי (ובמילא גם גורם) הילוך גלגל השמש ברקיע אלפים מילין וכו' ויתר על כן לאין קץ כו' (ולהעיר מתניא פרק כ"ו בענין הצל).
בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו בקדש, והמחכה לבשו"ט משמחות מסדר חדש תשרי באנ"ש בכלל ובמושפעיו בפרט.

I received your letters pleasantly and in their time, in which you write about the order before Rosh Hashanah and afterwards, how the students delayed, etc. My soul was revived by this joyful news that things are progressing step by step in preparing matters to be vessels for the coming of our righteous Moshiach. One should not be discouraged or impressed by what seems like slow progress or a pace less than expected, because it is impossible to truly estimate the reality of this progress.
As hinted at the end of Iggeres HaTeshuvah: the movement of a shadow on earth by a handbreadth is due to (and also causes) the sun’s movement in the heavens by thousands of miles and even more without end (see also Tanya chapter 26 regarding shadows).
With blessings for success in your holy work, and awaiting good news of joyful occasions from the new month of Tishrei among Anash in general and your students in particular.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that even seemingly slow or small steps in spiritual growth have immeasurable impact. True progress cannot be judged by outward appearances; every effort brings great advancement beyond what we can perceive.
