...ובמ"ש בסיום מכתבו, שמוכן לעשות מה שיגידו לו, הפלא השאלה עד"ז, לאחר שזה כו"כ שנים שממטיר הנני בהוראות בקשות וגם פקודות בהנגוע לעבודת כאו"א, אשר חובת גברא הוא בדורנו זה, אין יוצא מן הכלל. והנקודה - הפצת המעינות וכל הפעולות שיכולות לסייע בזה. והפצת היינו כפשוטה תורת החסידות מתאים להבנת השומעים. חזרת דא"ח מזמן לזמן, ועוד ועוד. ולצערי הכי רב הנה מ... לא נתבשרתי עדיין בשו"ט ע"ד האמור, מלבד ידיעה קצרה לעתים רחוקות שחזרו דא"ח במקום פלוני, וכותבים עד"ז כעל מקרה יוצא מן הכלל לגמרי, וחוששני שכן הוא באמת. שהרי קורה הדבר לעתים רחוקות ביותר, בה בשעה אשר אביו ובניו שיחיו יכולים היו - ובמילא גם מוכרחים - לעשות ב... (ובמשך השנים בכלל במדינת...) מקום חב"ד, ותמורת שמועות ע"ד פעולות חסידים, פועלים העולמות'שע כובשים שטח אחר שטח ומייסדים מוסד אחר מוסד, ואנ"ש - והם בראשם - מחכים, ליום יוצא מן הכלל ועושים התועדות, ואחרי כן עוד הפעם שובתים על כל פעולה עד כעבור איזה חדשים ובא יומא דפגרא אחר.
פשוט שאין כוונתי להטפת מוסר, אלא שסו"ס יתעוררו לפעולות ממשיות, והנה זה עומד אחר כתלנו מלכא משיחא, והזמן, קצר ביותר, והמלאכה מרובה ביותר.
בודאי התועדות י"ט כסלו הבע"ל תהי' במדה הדרושה, ז.א. בהתרחבות גדולה, ויהי רצון שתהי' זה התחלה טובה למלאות תפקידם בהנ"ל.
מובן שכל דברי הנ"ל מכוונים לא רק אליו אלא גם לאביו ולאחיו שיחיו. ויהי רצון שימצא האותיות המתאימות להסביר את האמור, שגם פעולות שלו יעוררום ויכריחום לעשות את המוטל עליהם. ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

...And regarding what you wrote at the end of your letter, that you are ready to do whatever you are told—how astonishing is this question after so many years in which I have been showering instructions, requests, and even directives concerning the work of each individual, which is an obligation for every person in our generation without exception. The main point is spreading the wellsprings and all activities that can assist with this. And spreading means literally teaching Chassidus according to the listeners' understanding—reviewing discourses from time to time, and more and more.
And to my great regret, I have not yet received good news about what was mentioned above, except for a brief note on rare occasions that a Chassidic discourse was reviewed in a certain place. They write about this as if it were an entirely exceptional event—and I fear this is truly the case. For it happens very rarely, while his father and sons (may they live) could—and therefore must—do much more... (And over the years in general in the country...) In a Chabad place, instead of hearing reports about Chassidic activities, worldly activists conquer territory after territory and establish institution after institution. And Anash—and they at their head—wait for an exceptional day and make a farbrengen; afterwards they again cease all activity until several months pass and another special day comes.
It is clear my intention is not to preach morals but that finally there should be an awakening to real action. Here stands behind our wall the King Moshiach; the time is extremely short and the work is exceedingly great. Certainly, the upcoming Yud Tes Kislev farbrengen will be on the necessary scale—that is, with great expansion—and may it be G‑d's will that this will be a good beginning to fulfill your role as mentioned above.
It is understood that all of the above applies not only to him but also to his father and brothers (may they live). May it be G‑d's will that he find the right words to explain what was said above so that his own actions will awaken and compel them to do what is incumbent upon them. Nothing stands in the way of true desire.
