I acknowledge receipt of your letters and matters concerning these days: Preceding this redemption was the prayer and request of the Baal HaGeulah, that is, my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, leader of Israel: 'May Hashem Elokeinu be with us as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us nor forsake us'—as he explained and clarified—words of prayer and request, and their content.

And prayer has an effect—as in another interpretation given by my revered father-in-law to the verse—words of assurance: all the nations saw that it was fulfilled in him 'Hashem is with me as my helper...' ("Hashem li b'ozri...", "Hashem is with me as my helper...") and they repaid all good.

And every year during these days—this is an auspicious time for everyone and an awakening to make good resolutions to follow in the ways of our ancestors who displayed self-sacrifice for Torah and mitzvos, especially regarding those matters for which the Baal HaGeulah gave his life. Through this, Hashem his G‑d is with him and there will be no trouble or toil; rather he will go from strength to strength; and to what extent? Until he sees Elokim in Zion—in the true and complete general redemption.
