Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter... The bringing in of non-Jews who have not properly converted according to halachah into the Jewish people—in addition to many fundamental matters about which much has already been spoken and written—further underscores the deep pain and mourning of these current days, when non-Jews entered the Beis HaMikdash (on the 7th of Av) up until its burning on Tisha B'Av.

Every Jew—whoever he may be and whatever his situation in Torah and mitzvos—he is the Beis HaMikdash of the Almighty. Bringing non-Jews (one, two, or several) into the Jewish people, or assisting in this, or even just standing by passively and calming oneself that it is not one's concern, deepens even more the pain of over 1900 years of mourning for Tisha B'Av. In the words of Yirmiyahu the prophet: "Kistah kelimah paneinu ki bau zarim al mikdashei beis Hashem" ("Shame has covered our faces because strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the house of Hashem"). This should bring everyone—and especially those who have influence—to stop being complacent (and thus also stop others from being complacent), to bring about regret and actual good deeds regarding proper conversion in particular and regarding our sins in general. By nullifying the cause—'because of our sins'—the result will also be nullified: our exile from our land; we will immediately be redeemed from this deepest exile and from exile in its simple sense through the true and complete redemption by Moshiach Tzidkeinu.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that improper conversion intensifies Jewish suffering and mourning on Tisha B'Av. Every Jew must actively oppose such actions and work toward true repentance and improvement, hastening redemption.
