Shalom u'Vrachah!

... And since everything is by Divine Providence, especially as explained in the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov z"l—and this year marks two hundred years since his passing (yahrzeit)—I feel it is my duty (and privilege) to awaken him and through him all those on whose behalf he writes, regarding the words of our Rebbeim [beginning with our teacher the Baal Shem Tov, then his successor the Maggid, and our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya (the authority in the hidden dimension of Torah) and Shulchan Aruch (the authority in the revealed dimension of Torah)] about the great necessity to study the inner dimension of Torah. In our generation this has been revealed through Chassidus; they gave their lives to spread this study. If this applies to everyone, how much more so to those who can influence others—as stated in the Mishnah: "He merited and caused many to merit," and from a positive statement we infer a negative one as well. Especially in this period called Ikvesa d'Meshicha (the footsteps of Mashiach), when "behold, he stands behind our wall," and every person must be ready each day for his coming—it is therefore imperative for each person to do all that depends on him. As stated by King Mashiach himself as recounted in Iggeres HaKodesh of the Baal Shem Tov: when his wellsprings will be spread outward—he will come. Heaven forbid to prolong the exile even for a moment by neglecting this spreading—even if one's efforts are not complete—for this is also the exile of the Holy One Blessed Be He and the exile of Knesses Yisrael who were exiled to Edom with the Shechinah among them. It is painful to elaborate on such distressing matters.

And now that we are in the month of Elul—the month of accounting and mercy—when "the King is in the field," as explained in Likkutei Torah on Ani L'Dodi (Parshas Re'eh), surely everyone is being aroused from Above regarding these matters. May it be G‑d's will that there be an arousal from Above and from below, increasing ever more light. May I hear good news about these matters—and there is no good except actual deeds—for action is what counts, and nothing stands before true will.
