עס האט מיר געפרייט צו הערען וועגען די יערלעכע אונטערנעמונגען פון די פארשידענע אפטיילונגען - קראון-הייטס, איסט ניו-יארק און בראנזוויל, וועסט-סייד - וועלכע קומען פאר היינט און אין די קומענדיגע טעג פון דעם חודש. עס איז ספעציעל צופרידענשטעלענד, וואס באלד נאך דעם יום-טוב'דיגען חודש תשרי, אין דעם ערשטן "וואכעדיגען" חודש פון יאר - מרחשון - האבן די פרויען גרופען באנייט זייער טעטיגקייט פאר די "בית רבקה" סקולס, אן צייט פארלוסט. דאס גיט מיר אויך די האפנונג, אז די דאזיגע וויכטיגע און הייליגע ארבייט וועט געטאן ווערען אונטער דער פולער השפעה און אויפוואכונג פון דעם חודש תשרי, וואס אלס ערשטער חודש פון יאר לעגט ער דעם שטעמפעל אויף א גאנץ יאר. בפרט, אז די הייליגע טעג פון חודש תשרי האבען ספעציעלע אנווייזונגען פאר אידישע פרויען און מאמעס.
ס'איז דאך ידוע, אז חכמינו זכרונם לברכה האבען מסדר געווען די קריאת התורה און הפטרות, אזוי אז דאס וואס מיר לייענען אין דער תורה און אין די נביאים זאל אפשפיגלען דעם אינהאלט פון די הייליגע טעג און זייערע אנווייזונגען אין טאג-טעגלעכן לעבען.
אין די ערשטע טעג פון יאר - אין די טעג פון ראש השנה - לייענען מיר אין דער תורה וועגען דעם געבורט פון דעם ערשטן אידישען קינד וואס איז געבארען געווארען אלס איד, פון אידישע עלטערען, און וועגען דעם מסירות נפש פון אידישע עלטערען פאר דער דערציאונג פון א קינד. דאס איז אויך דער אינהאלט פון דער הפטורה פון דעם ערשטן טאג ראש השנה, וועגען נאך א אידישע מאמע - חנה, און דעם געבורט פון א אידיש קינד - שמואל - און איר מסירות נפש, איבערגעבענדיג איר איינציגען קינד צו א ג-טלעכער דערציאונג. אויך אין דער הפטורה פון דעם צווייטען טאג ראש-השנה, וואו מיר בעטען דעם אויבערשטען ארויסנעמען די אידען פון גלות, ווערט געזאגט, אז דאס וואס עס דערוועקט די ג-טלעכע רחמנות איז " רחל מבכה על בני" - די מוטער רחל באוויינט דעם גורל פון אירע קינדער.
די לערע דערפון - וואס דארף דינען אלס יסוד פאר א גאנץ יאר - איז, צו וויסן, אז א אידיש קינד, פון געבורט אן, געהערט צום אויבערשטן, אז אידישע עלטערען, און מאמעס בפרט, דארפען זיך מוסר נפש [זיין] פאר דעם חינוך הכשר פון זייערע קינדער, און אז חינוך הכשר על טהרת הקדש איז דער יסוד פון דער גאולה השלימה, בב"א.
און דאס איז דאך די ארבייט פון די פרויען הילפס-גרופען פאר די בית רבקה סקולס, און דער גרעסטער זכות אויף בריינגען אמתען גליק פאר יעדער איינער בפרט, זיי און זייערע פאמיליעס, מאטעריעל און גייסטיג.

To the women's divisions for the "Beis Rivkah" schools, may they be well.

I was pleased to hear about the annual activities of the various divisions—Crown Heights, East New York and Brownsville, West Side—which are taking place now and in the coming days of this month.
It is especially satisfying that immediately after the festive month of Tishrei, in the first "weekday" month of the year—Marcheshvan—the women's groups have renewed their activities for the "Beis Rivkah" schools without delay.
This also gives me hope that this important and holy work will be carried out under the full influence and inspiration of Tishrei, which as the first month of the year sets its stamp on the entire year.
In particular, the holy days of Tishrei have special instructions for Jewish women and mothers.
It is well known that our Sages arranged the Torah readings and haftaros so that what we read in Torah and Prophets reflects the content of these holy days and their guidance for daily life.
In these first days of the year—on Rosh Hashanah—we read in Torah about the birth of the first Jewish child born as a Jew to Jewish parents, and about the self-sacrifice of Jewish parents for their child's education.
This is also reflected in the haftarah for Rosh Hashanah's first day: about another Jewish mother—Chana—and her giving birth to a Jewish child—Shmuel—and her self-sacrifice in dedicating her only child to a G‑dly education.
Also in the haftarah for Rosh Hashanah's second day, where we ask Hashem to take Jews out of exile, it says that what arouses Divine mercy is "Rachel mevakah al baneha" (Rachel weeps for her children)—Mother Rachel mourns her children's fate.
The lesson from this—which should serve as a foundation for an entire year—is to know that a Jewish child from birth belongs to Hashem; that Jewish parents—and especially mothers—must devote themselves with self-sacrifice to proper education for their children; and that pure education according to holiness is the foundation for complete redemption speedily in our days.
This is indeed the work of these women's support groups for Beis Rivkah schools—and it is their greatest merit to bring true happiness to each one individually, to them and their families, both materially and spiritually.
