במענה למכתבו מכ"ב סיון, בהמשך להפ"ש שקבלתי ממזכירי מר ניסן שי' מינדל אחרי שובו מביקורו באה"ק ת"ו,
ולכל לראש מוכרחני להתנצל לפני מר בעד העדר מכתבי מענה בעתם ובזמנם, שלא כמדת הנימוס, ואפילו לא אישור גרידא; ברם אישור סתם אין לי בזה טעם רב, ועוד שיש כאלה שיחשבו זה להעדר שימת לב. ומרוב הטרדות נאלצתי לדחות המענה, ואחר כך – כבר אמרו חכמים

שמחתי לשמוע על ידי הד"ר מינדל ולראות גם מהעתונות, שממשיך מר בפרסומיו, על כל פנים מזמן לזמן. שזה מחזק תקותי שפעיל הוא גם עתה בתפקידו העיקרי של כל איש הישראלי

מלתי אמורה אשר מהלימודים העיקריים מכל פרשה זו הוא אשר בכוחו של איש אחד מישראל למלאות תפקידו האמיתי, אפילו כשממשלה עצומה וכל המשטר שלה מנגדים לזה.

הידוע "מי הוא זה ואיזה הוא אשר ערב לבו" לומר שחונן בכוחות נפשיים כמו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר ועוצם המסירת נפש שלו וכו', הרי לאחר שסלל את הדרך

פתח בזה, ובאופן גלוי ומפורסם, בודאי אשר לאחרים ההולכים בעקבותיו נקל הדבר בהרבה יותר, ועוד ועיקר אשר אין ערך כלל להקושיים אשר בדרכנו עתה בהפצת היהדות, לא מני' ולא מקצתי'. ובודאי לדכותי' דמר האריכות למותר.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 22nd of Sivan, following up on what I received from my secretary Mr. Nisan Mindel after his return from his visit to Eretz HaKodesh, first and foremost I must apologize for not replying to you in a timely manner, which is not proper etiquette, and not even sending a simple acknowledgment; however, I do not see much value in a mere acknowledgment, and some might even consider it as a lack of attention. Due to many preoccupations I had to postpone my reply, and afterwards—as our sages say in their Mishnah: 'Do not say: When I am free I will study,' etc. I hope you understand this and judge me favorably.
I was pleased to hear from Dr. Mindel and also see in the press that you continue your publications, at least from time to time. This strengthens my hope that you are also presently active in your main role as every Jew’s duty according to the Mishnah: 'I was created to serve my Creator'—by spreading His Torah (that is, the Torah of the Holy One Blessed be He) and encouraging observance of His mitzvos wherever your influence reaches.
Moreover, not only as mentioned above that you continue now as before, but on the contrary—since you now have more free time from other occupations, your involvement in these matters should be with even greater strength and vigor, especially since the need is constantly increasing.
If this applies everywhere, how much more so in Eretz HaKodesh—the land upon which the eyes of Hashem rest from the beginning of the year until its end.
You surely know about Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz—the days of redemption of my revered father-in-law the Rebbe. As I have already stated: one of the main lessons from this entire episode is that a single Jew has the power to fulfill his true mission—even when an immense government and all its regime oppose it.
And although it is commonly said: 'Who can claim he possesses such spiritual strength as my revered father-in-law the Rebbe or his self-sacrifice,' etc., nevertheless after he paved the way and opened this path publicly and openly, certainly for others who follow in his footsteps it is much easier—and most importantly there is no comparison at all between our current challenges in spreading Judaism—not even a fraction of them—to those faced then.
Surely for someone like yourself such elaboration is unnecessary.
With respect—and as is customary these days to sign—with blessings for Chag HaGeulah (the Festival of Redemption), adding also: May it be G‑d’s will that from this redemption we soon come to the true and complete redemption of all Israel wherever they are through our righteous Moshiach.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every Jew has unique power to spread Torah and mitzvos regardless of obstacles. By following in the footsteps paved by previous leaders with self-sacrifice, our own efforts become easier and more impactful—especially during times linked with redemption.
