...And just as he who was redeemed in peace—the soul of the one whose celebration it is, our master the Alter Rebbe—was so because he stood up for the many, for the sake of the many, as he did good for the many—so too may we merit to receive and internalize this redemption and deliverance within ourselves, through service with double goodness—goodness toward Heaven and goodness toward people—and especially through spreading the wellsprings, the wellsprings of Chassidus, outward. For by spreading Torah in general and especially spreading the teachings of Chassidus, which thereby transforms darkness into light, just as 'He redeemed in peace the soul of David King of Israel because of the many—even among Avshalom’s men—they stood by him' (see Tzitz Eliezer on Tehillim 55:19), so too each person will redeem his soul in peace because 'for the many,' meaning that among the angels who guard a person—the good inclination and even the evil inclination—they will stand by him. For through all this one strengthens his good inclination over his evil inclination and sweetens severity, and then even the evil inclination returns to become a guardian for fruit. Then also in all matters of this world—including children, life, and sustenance—there will be peace and blessing; because 'for the many,' as it says in Targum to Tehillim 55:19: 'the multitudes stood by us,' so may it be said about us.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that helping others brings personal redemption. By spreading Torah and Chassidus outwardly and doing good both toward Heaven and people, we transform darkness into light and merit blessings in every aspect of life.
