Agudas N'shei U'bnos Chabad Montreal Branch is the Montreal chapter of the international Chabad women's and girls' organization, dedicated to fostering Jewish learning, community, and observance among women and girls in the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, corresponded with the Agudas N'shei U'bnos Chabad Montreal Branch, offering guidance and encouragement for their activities. In a letter dated 22nd of Marcheshvan, 5715 (1954), the Rebbe expressed his satisfaction upon learning about the various talks and discussions held at their meetings. He recommended that, whenever possible, each gathering should include discussion of the weekly Torah portion (Parshah), as well as relevant topics from previous weeks or the Haftarah. The Rebbe suggested utilizing material from previous years' talks and discourses to enrich these discussions.
The Rebbe also encouraged the branch to broaden the circle of participants in their gatherings, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and outreach. As the month of Kislev approached, with its significant Chabad dates—Yud Kislev, Yud-Tes Kislev, and Chanukah—the Rebbe noted the importance of addressing the themes of these special days in their meetings. He concluded with a blessing for success in all their endeavors, both communal and personal.
In response to a question from the branch regarding the diversity of ages among members and the resulting differences in interests and concerns, the Rebbe offered practical advice. He acknowledged the natural variation in age and interests and recommended a dual approach: holding general gatherings for all members to address topics of universal relevance, such as the weekly Torah portion and general Jewish laws, while also organizing separate meetings for specific age groups to focus on issues pertinent to them. The Rebbe emphasized the importance of maintaining both types of gatherings and expressed hope that even those who had not previously attended would be encouraged to participate, especially after experiencing the relevance of the specialized group meetings. He concluded with a prayer that all activities should proceed in a spirit of pleasantness and peace, bringing success to the organization's work.
