Eliyahu Shklovsky

אליהו שקלובסקי

הרב אליהו שקלובסקי (תרמ"ד - ט' באלול תשכ"ה) היה גבאי בית כנסת צמח צדק ומראשי הקהילה החב"דית בפתח תקווה.

He was born in 1884 (5644) to his father Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Shklovsky in Russia. After immigrating to Eretz Yisrael, he served as the gabbai of the Chabad synagogue and was one of the leaders of the Chabad community in Petach Tikva.

In a letter from 1957[1], the Rebbe responded to his report about the synagogue and the difficulties in gathering a minyan, in which he requested that the Rebbe arouse great mercy. The Rebbe instructed him to create proper channels and vessels to strengthen the minyan and encouraged him to take practical steps in strengthening the spiritual matters of the synagogue, as he was one of its leading activists.

R. Eliyahu would regularly report to the Rebbe about the farbrengens and activities held in the synagogue, and the Rebbe consistently encouraged him in his efforts.

In a 1958 letter, the Rebbe wrote to him[2]:
“On time I received your letter bearing good news about the farbrengen in the synagogue and Beis Midrash, of which you are one of the leaders, celebrating the auspicious day of Yud-Tes Kislev, the Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus and its ways… May it be Hashem’s will that throughout the coming year there be added strength, vitality, and light in all matters of the synagogue and Beis Midrash, that they fully live up to their name Chabad Synagogue. The merit of all those who engage and stand at the forefront is explained in many places, and explicitly in the verse (Daniel 12:3), ‘And those who bring the multitudes to righteousness shall shine like the stars forever and ever.’”

The name of R. Eliyahu appears with the title “Gabbai of the Chabad Synagogue, Petach Tikva” in the list of supporters and subscribers of Kuntres HaShulchan by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Naeh, found in the opening pages of the work[3].

He passed away on the 9th of Elul, 1965, and was buried in the Segula Cemetery in Petach Tikva.
