Tzemach Tzedek

אדמו"ר צמח צדק

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, known as the Tzemach Tzedek, was the third Rebbe of the Chabad Chasidic dynasty. He was born in 1789 and passed away in 1866. He is also known by the name of the sefarim he authored, "Tzemach Tzedek." The gematria of "מנחם מענדל" is the same as the gematria of "צמח צדק."

He was the grandson of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the founder of Chabad Chasidism.

During his leadership, the Tzemach Tzedek dealt with internal struggles within Jewish communities and severe decrees from the Russian authorities. He was renowned as a legal scholar, a mystic, and the author of numerous works on Chasidic philosophy, Jewish law, and mysticism. One of his significant contributions to Judaism and Chabad Chasidism was the emphasis on the daily study of Chasidic teachings and philosophy.
