Blessings and greetings!

In response to your letter from the 21st of Marcheshvan, in which you write about your husband's upcoming trip to... and that it is difficult for you emotionally and you wish he would not have to travel, etc. Your reconsideration of this has no basis, and you should strengthen your trust in Hashem Yisbarach and in my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (of blessed memory), upon whose name the Talmud Torahs and yeshivas in... were founded. Not only is his trip not a cause for distress G‑d forbid, but it is actually the path to blessing and success for all those who participate in this work and also for their families.

And as for thinking that this is connected with difficulties—besides the fact that one cannot know how great the difficulties would be in another arrangement—it is also true that most of the difficulties are magnified in our eyes because we choose to see them that way, especially since it is something new. When observing how Anash (our community) exert themselves in various places where they find themselves and the hardships they endure and what they achieve, the inconveniences in... are not comparable and are much less than theirs.

I also want to say that those who travel to... do not have to stay for many years—at minimum a year—since the work cannot be interrupted mid-year. But after a year passes, if they themselves request to leave there and present their reasons, then at that time we will part as with a new person who does not yet carry the responsibility of this work. And obviously no one will be forced against their will. On the other hand, however, even if one works there only a single day, the work must be done with full dedication—not just perfunctorily or watching the clock until the 24 hours are up so as to be free from obligation—which would not only be detrimental to the work but also uncomfortable for those working there.

I wish to repeat briefly what was said above: after completing a year of being in..., no one will be required to continue working there; but during that year I hope I can be sure that the work will be done faithfully so as to fulfill the intention of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe. I am confident that through this work it becomes a good vessel to receive blessings from Hashem Yisbarach in all matters needed for oneself and one's family.

And since a wife has great influence on her husband—and as it appears to me—as soon as your husband arrives there he should arrange papers so you and your children can join him there. Then you yourself will see that even in... Hashem is present and grants blessing and success there too—and in your case even more than elsewhere—so both you and your husband will be satisfied that Hashem has given you this opportunity to fulfill His will and receive His blessings materially and spiritually.

The Rebbe teaches us not to let imagined or exaggerated difficulties prevent us from fulfilling our mission. Trusting in Hashem brings blessing both materially and spiritually—even when facing new or unfamiliar challenges.
