Je vous remercie pour votre lettre du 22 et 25 dernier. Nous n'avons aucunes nouvelles de nos parents. Par une lettre de Mr. Liberman nous avons appris qu'ils n'ont pas pu quitter Varsovie, et nous sommes très inquiets à leur sujet.
Je vous aurais donné très volontiers tous les dates et lieux de naissance de notre famille, comme vous l'avez demandé pour vous faciliter d'obtenir les permits américains. Malheureusement je les ignore, sauf ceux de : Mendel Horenstein né 1905 à Januszpol ; Cheyna Horenstein née 1904 à Lubawiecy ; Haya Moussia Schneerson née 13 Août 1901 à Smolensk de Joseph et Dina ; Mendel Schneerson né 1 Mars 1895, de Leyvik et Chana Janowska, à Nicolaev ; J'ai écris à Mr. Liberman en le demandant de vous donner tous les renseignements nécessaires, mais je trouve que cela serait très utile, que vous de votre part, vous adressiez directement et sans retard à lui ou Mr. Dubin qu'ils vous fournissent les dates exactes.
J'ai aussi une faveur personnelle à vous demander : II s'agit d'un ami intime de notre famille Mr. Alexandre Rainin habitant Paris, et il demande de lui obtenir un affidavite. Il et son épouse Sylvia sont assez riches et n'auront besoin d'aucune aide pécuniaire.

ברצון הייתי נותן לכבודו את כל תאריכי ומקומות הלידה של משפחתינו כפי בקשתכם, כדי להקל עליכם בקבלת הרשיונות האמריקניים. לדאבוני איני יודע אותם כולם חוץ מאלו: מענדל הארנשטיין נולד 1905 ביאנושפאל; שיינא הארנשטיין נולדה 1904 בלובאוויץ; חי' מוסי' שניאורסאהן נולדה 13 באוגוסט 1901 בסמאלענסק מיוסף ודינה; מענדל שניאורסאהן נולד 1 במרס 1895 מלויק וחנה ינובסקי, בניקולייב; כתבתי למר ליבערמאן בבקשה למסור לכבודו את הידיעות הנצרכות, אבל חושבני שיהי' מאד לתועלת, שגם אתם מצידכם, תבקשו באופן ישיר ובלי איחור ממנו או ממר דובין, שהם יתנו לכם התאריכים בדיוק.
יש לי גם טובה אישית לבקש מאתכם: המדובר הוא אודות ידיד יקר מהמשפחה שלנו, מר אלכסנדר ריינין, גר בפריז, ומבקש לסדר עבורו אפידייביט. הוא ואשתו סילבי'. יש להם מספיק עושר כך שלא יהיו נצרכים לעזרה כספית.

ארבע האגרות דלקמן נעתקו מגוכתי"ק ותורגמו ללה"ק ע"י הרה"ת ר' מנחם מענדל שי' פעווזנער. באותה שעה הי' כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהריי"צ נ"ע במצור בווארשא. מזכירו הרח"ל שי' בריגא. כ"ק אדמו"ר שליט"א בפריז וה"ר ישראל דזייקאבסאן בארה"ב, שמשם התעסק בהצלת בית חיינו, ע"פ הידיעות שקיבל מריגא ומפריז. ארבע אגרות אלו דנות כולם בידיעות שמתקבלות מבית חיינו בווארשא ועל השתדלות ההצלה. בכ"ז ראה מבוא לאגרות קודש אדמו"ר מוהריי"צ נ"ע ח"ה ע' 9- 5. מחמת המלחמה א"א הי' לכתוב המכתבים בלה"ק ונכתבו בצרפתית ובהסוואה.
הורינו: הוא כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהריי"צ נ"ע ובני ביתו. תאריכי ומקומות הלידה: הם התאריכים הכתובים במסמכים הרשמיים שלהם, השונים קצת מתאריכי הלידה הנכונים.
מר דובין: ה"ר מרדכי, נציג הסיים בלטבי'.

My dear Rabbi! I thank you for your letters of the 22nd and 25th of last month. We have no news from our parents. Through a letter from Mr. Liberman, we learned that they were unable to leave Warsaw, and we are very worried about them.
I would have gladly given you all the birth dates and places of our family members as you requested to help you obtain the American permits. Unfortunately, I do not know them all except for these: Mendel Horenstein born 1905 in Januszpol; Cheyna Horenstein born 1904 in Lubawiecy; Chaya Moussia Schneerson born August 13, 1901 in Smolensk to Joseph and Dina; Mendel Schneerson born March 1, 1895 to Leyvik and Chana Janowska in Nicolaev.

I also have a personal favor to ask: It concerns a close friend of our family, Mr. Alexandre Rainin who lives in Paris, who is requesting help in obtaining an affidavit. He and his wife Sylvia are quite wealthy and will not need any financial assistance.
