דאס וואס איר האט זיך געמאכט אן אנשטרענגונג צו שיקן די טויזנט ד' אין דער צייט, ניט קוקנדיק וואס איר זייט פאראיינגט אין קעש, דאס מאכט נאך גרעסער אייער זכות, דאס איז אויך אין איינקלאנג מיט דעם פסוק "אשרי משכיל אל דל ביום רעה ימלטהו ה'", וואס דער טייטש דערפון איז אויך אז אין דער צייט ווען איינער איז פארענגט אין געלט און איז אין דעם זין אליין א "דל", און פונדעסטוועגן רעכנט ער זיך ניט דערמיט און גיט צדקה מער ווי די מעגליכקייטן אין יענער צייט, און דאן וועט זיכער מקויים ווערן אויך דאס וואס שטייט ווייטער "ואני בתומי תמכת בי ותציבני לפניך לעולם" - און איך, אין מיין גאנצקייט (באמונה) שטיצט דו מיך און האסט מיך אויפגעריכטעט פאר דיר אויף אייביק (תהלים מ"א).
איך האף אויך, אז עס וועט מקויים ווערן דאס וואס עס שטייט אין נביא מלאכי, אז דער אויבערשטער זאגט ובחנוני נא בזאת - פרואווט מיך אויס אין דער מצוה פון צדקה, וועט איר זען "אם לא אפתח לכם ארובות השמים והריקותי לכם ברכה עד בלי די" - אז איך וועל עפענען פאר אייך די פענסטער פון הימל און וועל אייך שיקן ברכה אן אויפהער. דער אויבערשטער זאל געבן, אז איר זאלט דאס זען בפועל ממש בהצלחה מופלגה און איר זאלט קענען נאכקומען אלע אייערע פארפליכטונגען און זיי נאך גרעסער מאכן.

I received your letter from the week of Balak. I am very pleased that you accepted my suggestion, which I made while at the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, regarding contributing one thousand dollars for the Rebbe's (my father-in-law's) work in Africa. Naturally, this will be counted toward your participation in the fifty-thousand-dollar program.
Your effort to send the thousand dollars on time—despite being pressed for cash—makes your merit even greater. This also aligns with the verse "Ashrei Maskil El Dal BaYom Ra'ah Yemaltehu Hashem" ("Fortunate is he who considers the poor; on a day of trouble, Hashem will deliver him")—which also means that when someone is pressed for money and is himself a 'dal' (poor), yet does not take this into account and gives tzedakah beyond his means at that time, then surely what is written further will also be fulfilled: "Va'Ani BeTumi Timachta Bi VeTatziveni Lefanecha LeOlam" ("And I—in my integrity—You support me and set me before You forever") (Tehillim 41).
I also hope that what is written in the prophet Malachi will be fulfilled: that Hashem says "U'Bechanuni Na B'Zos" ("Test Me now with this")—try Me out in the mitzvah of tzedakah—and you will see "Im Lo Eftach Lachem Arubot HaShamayim V'Harikoti Lachem Bracha Ad Bli Dai" ("if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing until there is no more need")—that I will open for you the windows of heaven and send you endless blessing.
May Hashem grant that you see this tangibly with outstanding success and may you be able to fulfill all your obligations—and even increase them.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that giving tzedakah even when it is difficult brings great merit and opens channels for abundant blessing from Above. Trusting in G‑d’s promise leads to both spiritual and material success.
