חנוכת בנין החדש של מרכז ליובאַוויטש והמשך טקס החגיגה הנערכים בשבוע של ימי הפורים הבע"ל, בודאי שיהיו חדורים אצילות רוח והתעוררות של ימי סגולה אלה.
נקודת פרשת ימי הפורים היא, אשר כל עם בני ישראל,
וכלשון הכתוב
– מנער ועד זקן טף ונשים, היו בסכנת הגזירה, עד שבא מרדכי היהודי ואסף כ"ב אלף ילדי ישראל והלהיב את לבבם בדברים ובחינוך עד שהיו מוכנים למסור נפשם על יהדותם, ואז בטלה הגזירה,

בדברי רבותינו חכמינו זכרונם לברכה.

מורנו הבעל שם טוב, מייסד תורת החסידות הכללית, אשר רבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשלחן-ערוך ואבי שיטת חב"ד-ליובאַוויטש הי' תלמיד תלמידו, שביאר בדרך רמז דבר המשנה (מגילה יז, א):
הקורא את המגילה למפרע
– פירוש: שסובר שאז הי' הנס ולא עתה –
לא יצא
.
וההוראה שבזה היא, שכל עניני פרשת ימי הפורים בתקפם עתה כמו בתקפם אז. ואף שאין עתה סכנת גזירה כהאמורה ח"ו, ואדרבה הצליח השם יתברך ויהודים יכולים לחיות במנוחה ואפילו בהרחבה, אין זה משנה סוד קיום עם בני ישראל – הוא חינוך הכשר של בני ובנות ישראל עד כדי מסירת נפש בעד היהדות.
והרי זהו תפקידו היסודי של מרכז ליובאַוויטש בלונדון: לאסוף ילדי ישראל – ילדים כפשוטם, ו"ילדים" בדיעה את ה' ותורתו ומצותיו – כדי לגלות בהם פנימיות נפשם ומהותם ועצמותם שיכירו במוחש שהם –
כלשון
הכתוב "בנים אתם לה' אלקיכם", וימשיכו את שרשרת הזהב של מסורת אבותיהם, עד כדי מסירת נפש בעד חיי יהדות התורה והמצות.
שמסירת נפש זו כוללת כמובן גם מסירת נפש בעד הזולת, לבוא לעזרתו בצרכיו הרוחניים והגשמיים גם יחד.
וכמו שנבלטו קוים אלו בדמותו של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, נשיא חב"ד-ליובאוויטש של דורנו, כידוע מדברי ימי חייו (ולדוגמא: כשהי' עדיין בן אחת עשרה
נאסר
והוטל לבית האסורים על שבא לעזרת יהודי מן השוק שהתעולל בו גוי).
ויהי רצון שהבנין החדש של מרכז ליובאַוויטש בלונדון יימלא
"בנערינו
ובזקנינו בבנינו ובבנותינו" ההולכים ברוח זה. ואין די באר גודל הזכות של כל אלו שנתנו יד להקים בנין החדש הזה והיו ויהיו מעוזריו ותומכיו והמשתתפים בפעולותיו, שהרי כל פעולה טובה של המחונכים והמושפעים בבית הזה ומחוצה לו היא גם לזכותם חלקם ונחלתם של כל אחד מהעושים והמעשים שיחיו.

To all participants in the dedication of the new building of the Lubavitch Center in London—may Hashem be upon you and grant you life—greetings and blessings!
The dedication of the new building of the Lubavitch Center and the continuation of the celebration taking place during the week of Purim will surely be imbued with nobility of spirit and inspiration from these auspicious days.
The central point of Purim is that all Jews—as it says in Scripture: "from young to old, children and women"—were under threat until Mordechai HaYehudi gathered twenty-two thousand Jewish children and inspired their hearts with words and education until they were ready to give their lives for their Judaism. Then, as our Sages tell us, the decree was annulled.
It is known that our teacher, the Baal Shem Tov—the founder of general Chassidus, whose disciple’s disciple was our Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch and founder of Chabad-Lubavitch—explained a Mishnah (Megillah 17a) as follows: "One who reads the Megillah backwards"—meaning one who thinks that the miracle happened only then but not now—"has not fulfilled his obligation." The lesson is that all aspects of Purim are just as relevant now as they were then.
Even though today there is no such threat—in fact, Hashem has granted success so that Jews can live peacefully and even prosperously—this does not change the secret to Jewish survival: proper education for Jewish boys and girls to the point of self-sacrifice for Judaism.
This is precisely the fundamental role of Lubavitch Center in London: to gather Jewish children—literally children as well as those who are "children" in knowledge of Hashem, His Torah, and mitzvos—to reveal their inner soul so they tangibly recognize that they are—as Scripture says—"children you are to Hashem your G‑d," continuing their ancestral tradition even to self-sacrifice for Torah life and mitzvos.
This self-sacrifice naturally includes giving oneself for others—to help them both spiritually and materially. These qualities were prominent in our Rebbe, leader of Chabad-Lubavitch in our generation—as known from his life story (for example: when he was only eleven years old he was imprisoned for helping a Jew whom a non-Jew had abused).
May it be G‑d’s will that the new building of Lubavitch Center in London be filled with our youth and elders, sons and daughters walking in this spirit. The merit is immeasurable for all those who contributed to establishing this new building, support it now or will do so in future, or participate in its activities—for every good deed done by those educated or influenced within or outside this house is also a merit, portion, and inheritance for each supporter.
With honor and blessings for great success and good news in all mentioned above—and a joyous Purim!
