בעתו קבלתי את מכתבו בנוגע למצב בריאות בנו... שי' אשר דואג הוא לחוו"ד רופא אחד שהרפה את ידיו והחליש את תקותו לרפו"ש של בנו שי':
בטח ידוע לו מאמרם של כמה וכמה מנשיאנו רבוה"ק על מרז"ל ורפא ירפא, שניתן רשות לרופא לרפאות, שרק זהו הכח והסמכא שיש לרופא - לרפאות בענין של רפואה, ובפרט - שהרופא השני ג"כ אינו מסכים לחו"ד הפסמיסט אין לו איפוא כלל להחליש התקוה הטובה, ובפרטי פרטיות הוא בימינו אלה שבכל יום ויום מתחדשים תרופות חדשות ודרכים חדשים בעניני רפואה.
בעת רצון שהנני על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הנני מזכיר את בנו שי' לרפואה, ותקותי חזקה אשר במשך הזמן יוכל לבשרני בשו"ט בזה, אבל מובן מעצמו שח"ו אין לו להחליש בטחונו בהשי"ת שהוא הוא הרופא חולים ואין מעצור לו להושיע ברב או במעט, ועל ידי תוספת כח בהבטחון, הן מצדו והן מצד זוגתו תחי', הנה בלי ספק, אשר זה ימהר ג"כ הטבת בריאות בנו שי'.
מהראוי אשר יקח על עצמו לימוד נוסף בתורה בכלל ובתורת החסידות בפרט, וכן נתינה לצדקה - אף אם גם סכומים קטנים, אבל - בקביעות ותכופות לזכות בנו שי' ואחכה לבשו"ט ממנו בהנ"ל.
בפ"ש חותנו הרה"ח הוו"ח כו' מוה"ר... שי' ובברכה מיוחדת לבנו... שי'.

I received your letter in due time regarding your son's health situation... may he live, and your concern over the opinion of one doctor who discouraged you and weakened your hope for your son's complete recovery: Surely you are aware of the statements from several of our holy Rebbeim on our Sages' words 'VeRapoh Yerapeh' ("and he shall surely heal"), that permission is given to a doctor to heal—this is the only authority a doctor has: to heal in matters of medicine. Especially since the second doctor also does not agree with the pessimistic opinion, there is absolutely no reason to weaken your good hope. All the more so nowadays, when every single day new medicines and new methods in medicine are being discovered.
At an auspicious time when I am at the resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, I mention your son... may he live, for healing. My strong hope is that in due course you will be able to inform me of good news regarding this. But it is self-evident that G‑d forbid you should weaken your trust in Hashem—He is the Healer of the sick and nothing can prevent Him from saving whether by much or by little. By increasing strength in trust—both on your part and on your wife's part—there is no doubt this will also hasten the improvement of your son's health.
It is appropriate that you take upon yourself additional Torah study in general and especially in Chassidus, as well as giving charity—even if only small amounts—but regularly and frequently for the merit of your son... may he live. I await good news from you about all the above.
With regards from his father-in-law, Haraha"ch vavac"h etc. Moreinu HaRav... may he live, and with a special blessing to your son... may he live.
