Yeshivas Toras Emes is a prominent Chabad-Lubavitch yeshiva located in Jerusalem, dedicated to the study of both Nigleh (the revealed aspects of Torah) and Chassidus (Chassidic teachings). The institution is recognized for its commitment to fostering Torah scholarship and spiritual growth in accordance with the teachings and aspirations of the Chabad Rebbes.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, addressed a letter to the administration of Yeshivas Toras Emes dated 2 Nissan, 5712 (1952), expressing his pleasure upon learning about the yeshiva's approach to learning both Nigleh and Chassidus. The Rebbe offered heartfelt blessings for their continued success and ascent in Torah study with yiras Shamayim (awe of Heaven), in alignment with the will of the previous Chabad Rebbes.
In his guidance, the Rebbe emphasized the dual responsibility outlined in Chassidic teachings: to judge others favorably, while maintaining a strong and just self-accountability. He highlighted the preciousness of time, urging the yeshiva and its students not to waste even a single moment, but to fill every instant with Torah and mitzvos. The Rebbe noted that while the administration was satisfied with the students' conduct and learning, this should not diminish their own self-expectations, encouraging them to continually strive for higher levels of spiritual and academic achievement, in the spirit of the principle ma'alin bakodesh (always ascending in holiness).
The tone of the correspondence is both encouraging and demanding, reflecting the Rebbe's deep care for the yeshiva's progress and his high expectations for its students and faculty.
