Yosef Waltuch was a Chassid residing in Tel Aviv who corresponded with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The Rebbe addressed him with honorific titles, indicating his standing within the Chabad community.
In a letter dated 22 Sivan, 5711 (1951), the Rebbe responds to Yosef Waltuch after receiving his letter and a pidyon nefesh (a traditional written request for blessing). The Rebbe assures him that he will read the pidyon nefesh at the resting place of his father-in-law, the previous Rebbe, and pray that the L-rd fulfills Waltuch's heartfelt requests for good.
The Rebbe reiterates guidance he had previously shared: the importance of establishing fixed times for Torah study and reciting daily Tehillim (Psalms) as divided by the days of the month. Acknowledging Waltuch's expressed feelings of being very busy, the Rebbe emphasizes that precisely in times of pressure, setting aside time for Torah is the solution. He explains that demonstrating this commitment to G-d, even amid constraints, brings about the fulfillment of the promise, "If you walk in My statutes," interpreted as laboring in Torah. This, the Rebbe teaches, elicits Divine blessing so that all material needs are met in their proper time, enabling one to serve G-d with peace of mind and body.
The tone of the correspondence is warm, encouraging, and practical, blending spiritual counsel with blessings for both spiritual and material success.
