שלי בעתו. מה שהצעתי, ולכאורה ברור תוכנו, ובכל אופן אדגיש עוה"פ הנקודה, ובהקדמה כמודגש במברק, שלעצם הענין לא שאל דעתי. בכל זה מצאתי לחוב להעירו מצדי עכ"פ בנקודה הבאה להלן, והיא, שהכינוס לא הי' צריך להיות מאירגונים דתיים, שזה יעורר התנגדות עצומה וכולי. ובאותו המצב, שכנראה כבר לא הי' הדבר בידו לבטלו, מצאתי העצה, אף כי בדוחק גדול, שיהי' זה כינוס של אירגונים הקשורים בדת כמו בתי כנסיות וכו' וגם אירגוני
בעלי-בתים
(בדוגמת ישראל הצעיר), סטודנטים (בדוגמת יבנה) וכו'. ומובן ופשוט שאין בזה תיקון כלל כשהוזמנו גם באי-כח
בתי כנסיות
של ישראל הצעיר, ואפילו באם הוזמנו גם הבע"ב שלהם,
שהרי הנקודה היא בנוגע לכינוס עצמו ולא מי שיקרא בו הרצאות, או יברכו וכדומה, ופשוט.
צערי שהזכרתי במברק שלי אודות השתתפות מר בענין, ואולי עוד יותר מהשתתפות כנראה מחתימתו במכתבו הנ"ל, גדל עוד יותר לאחר שמתאים להבטחת חכמינו

מצוה גוררת מצוה הרי נתוסף על אופי הכינוס גם אופי מפלגתי מובהק עם כל הגינונים של מפלגה ודרכי', איזו שתהי', שלכל לראש כשמה כן היא – מפלגה, מלשון פילוג מחלוקת ופירוד הלבבות, ההיפך בהחלט להמטרה, לכאורה, של הכינוס, ומה שנוגע עוד יותר – ההיפך הגמור למה שזקוקים אנו עתה, ובפרט בחדשים הכי אחרונים.
זה עתה נתקבלה החוברת שנה בשנה, ות"ח על שימת לבבו.
בכתבי המכתב ערב יום היאָרצייט הילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, יהי רצון שכל אחד מאתנו בתוככי כלל ישראל יתלהב לרעיונות בעל ההילולא שעליהם מסר נפשו, וינצל לתכלית זו כל הכשרונות שחונן בהם.

Your letter from the 23rd of Tevet reached me after some delay. Regarding the troubling matter—the gathering—I trust you received my telegram in due time. What I suggested, whose content seems clear, I will emphasize again here. As noted in the telegram, you did not consult me about the matter itself. Nevertheless, I found it necessary to point out the following: The gathering should not have been organized by religious organizations, as this would provoke great opposition and so forth. In the situation where it was apparently no longer possible for you to cancel it, I found a solution—though with great difficulty—that it should be a gathering of organizations connected to religion such as synagogues and similar groups, as well as laymen's organizations (like Young Israel), student groups (like Yavneh), etc.
It is clear that this is not a true remedy if representatives of synagogues from Young Israel were also invited—even if their leaders were invited too—since the main issue concerns the gathering itself and not who will deliver lectures or give blessings there; this is obvious.
I regret that I mentioned in my telegram your participation in this matter—and perhaps even more than participation, as indicated by your signature on your aforementioned letter—my concern increased further after seeing that according to our Sages' teaching "one mitzvah leads to another mitzvah," an additional aspect was added: the gathering took on a distinctly partisan character with all the trappings of a political party—whichever party it may be—which by definition means division and separation of hearts. This is entirely contrary to the supposed goal of the gathering and even more so to what we need now, especially in these recent months.
I have just received the annual booklet; thank you for your attention to it.
I write this letter on the eve of the yahrzeit-hilulah of my revered teacher and master, may it be G‑d's will that each of us among all Israel be inspired by the ideals for which he gave his life, and use all our G‑d-given talents for this purpose.
