Tamuz, 5715.

Pure water. Even though by itself it is suitable for immersion (unlike impure or invalid water—which at least rabbinically are certainly not valid since we require its existence through purity). This is not as implied in Sefer Mishnah Acharonah—and what is written in Tiferes Yisrael regarding the laws of preparing for impurity, I do not understand what relevance preparation has here. Also see Sefer Geulat Aliyot. Prisha to Yoreh Deah section 24 regarding indirect causation, and in Sdei Chemed, Klalim letter Beit subsection 1-2.

Summary

This letter clarifies that only pure water is suitable for immersion according to halachah, critiques certain sources that suggest otherwise, and directs the reader to further study on the nuances of ritual purity and related laws.
