In the context of Ha'azinu, there is an exploration of the significance of two forms of Torah study: the regular, consistent schedule, and the more profound, intense study requiring great effort. Each has its role, reflecting different aspects of serving Hashem. One is not to replace the other; rather, each complements and enhances one's spiritual service.

The study focused on deep understanding involves exertion beyond one's comfort zone, leading to a deeper connection with Torah. This kind of effort demands sacrifice and devotion beyond routine obligations.

The Rebbe explains that like in the physical world where there are constant needs such as food for sustenance, so too in spiritual life there are constants like prayer and regular study that maintain a basic level of spirituality. In contrast, intensive learning parallels moments when one seeks beyond essentials, striving for growth through dedicated effort.

This balance reflects the dual approach within Judaism: fulfilling regular commandments while also pushing boundaries to achieve personal elevation. Such dedication serves a dual purpose: personal advancement and elevating the collective Jewish community.
