Yaakov Hodakovsky (Yeshivah Teacher)

Yaakov Hodakovsky was a teacher in a yeshivah founded by the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, as evident from his correspondence with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. His role involved guiding and educating students in the ways of Chassidus.

Correspondence with the Rebbe

The letter from the Rebbe addresses Yaakov Hodakovsky's concerns about his own feelings of inadequacy and melancholia regarding his fitness to teach a class. The Rebbe firmly encourages him, stating that such doubts are merely the incitement of the yetzer hara (evil inclination) and should not be allowed to weaken his efforts in drawing the hearts of the yeshivah students closer to Chassidus. The Rebbe emphasizes that Hodakovsky's connection to the Previous Rebbe, through his role in the yeshivah, serves as a channel for strength and ability to fulfill his mission. He reminds him that this work is his divinely ordained purpose and assures him that when one fulfills the Creator's mission, G-d grants all necessary resources, quoting the Alter Rebbe: "For what you are needed, then Hashem gives everything you need."

The Rebbe also enclosed guidelines for the upcoming Yud Shevat (the Previous Rebbe's yahrzeit), instructing Hodakovsky to publicize them appropriately. The tone of the letter is encouraging and supportive, blessing him with success in his holy work and urging him to perform his duties with joy, for the benefit of both himself and his students.
