Ari Nusach Synagogue, also known as the Nusach Ari Congregation, is a synagogue community distinguished by its adherence to the liturgical customs associated with the Ari (Rabbi Isaac Luria), a foundational figure in Jewish mysticism. The congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary in the year 5715 (1955), an event that drew the attention and blessings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe addressed a letter to the president, board members, and congregants of the Nusach Ari Synagogue in honor of their 50-year jubilee. The Rebbe expressed particular pleasure upon learning of the celebration, emphasizing the significance of a synagogue that bears the name of the Ari z"l, who illuminated the path of serving G-d with joy, self-sacrifice, chassidic warmth, and heartfelt sincerity.
The Rebbe drew a connection between the timing of the jubilee—held on the eve of Purim—and the lessons of the holiday. He highlighted how, during the Purim story, the salvation of the Jewish people was achieved not through political connections, but through the education and spiritual strengthening of Jewish children, as led by Mordechai. The Rebbe stressed that this lesson remains relevant, especially in a free country where there are great opportunities to ensure the spiritual future of Jewish children.
The Rebbe commended the synagogue's focus on chinuch (Jewish education) for children, particularly under the leadership of their devoted rabbi, Rabbi Shalom Rivkin. He encouraged the community to continue this vital work in the spirit of Mordechai HaYehudi, illuminated and inspired by the teachings of the Ari z"l and chassidic values, emphasizing that only through such efforts is the great name of their synagogue truly justified and expressed in daily life.
