Agudas Chassidei Chabad in the Holy Land (Chabad Chassidim Association in Eretz HaKodesh)

Agudas Chassidei Chabad in the Holy Land (אגודת חסידי חב"ד בארץ הקודש) is the central organizational body representing Chabad Chassidim in Eretz HaKodesh (the Land of Israel). The association serves as the communal and administrative framework for advancing the goals and activities of Chabad in the Holy Land, under the guidance of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

Correspondence with the Rebbe

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, maintained an active and guiding correspondence with the executive committee of Agudas Chassidei Chabad in the Holy Land. In his letter dated 24 Sivan 5711 (1951), the Rebbe expresses his pleasure at their sense of responsibility and their commitment to expanding the organization's activities and fulfilling its goals. He emphasizes the unique importance of their work in the current era, described as Ikvesa d'Meshicha (the footsteps of Mashiach), and highlights the special spiritual significance of their efforts in Eretz HaKodesh, referencing teachings from his father-in-law, the previous Rebbe.

The Rebbe addresses several practical and organizational matters in his letter:

1. Expansion of Leadership: He approves the committee's proposal to add new representatives to the leadership, including Rabbi Azriel Zelik Slonim (Jerusalem), Reb Zalman Sudakowitz (Kfar Sefaria), and Rabbi Yitzchak Ginzburg (from among the younger Chassidim). The Rebbe also suggests considering the addition of another young representative.

2. Participation in Elections: The Rebbe strongly urges all G-d-fearing individuals to participate in the upcoming elections and to influence others to vote for the most religious (Charedi) lists, stressing that not a single vote should be lost. He authorizes the committee to publicize his opinion with full force and encourages outreach among women and youth as well.

3. Organizational Development: The Rebbe recommends establishing special divisions within Agudas Chassidei Chabad: one for women (both for Chabad women and for outreach to the broader community of women), and one for youth (to strengthen the young Chassidim themselves and to reach out to broader circles of youth). He leaves the practical details to the committee's discretion, requesting a detailed plan based on local needs and circumstances.

Throughout the correspondence, the Rebbe's tone is one of encouragement, urgency, and trust in the committee's judgment. He concludes with blessings for success in their sacred work and expresses the hope that together they will fulfill the will of the holy Rebbeim of Chabad, particularly the Previous Rebbe, and merit the complete and true redemption.
