Zalman Drori is addressed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in correspondence that recognizes his involvement in Jewish education and communal life. The Rebbe's letter to Drori is occasioned by the birth of a son, and it reflects both personal blessings and broader encouragement for his role in fostering Torah values.
In a letter dated 24 Menachem Av, 5711 (1951), the Rebbe warmly congratulates Zalman Drori on the birth of his son, extending heartfelt blessings that he and his wife merit to raise their child "to Torah, chuppah, and good deeds," together with their other children, in tranquility of mind and body. The Rebbe cites a teaching from his father-in-law, the previous Rebbe, that those who dedicate themselves to proper education are rewarded by G-d measure for measure—being granted success in raising their own children in the path of mitzvot and Torah.
The Rebbe further encourages Drori by enclosing an excerpt from a recent farbrengen (gathering) about the month of Elul, expressing confidence that its message will inspire positive action, in line with the teaching: "Not study but action is primary." The tone of the letter is both congratulatory and motivational, emphasizing the importance of practical application of Torah values in daily life and the merit of those who are engaged in the sacred work of education.
