לויט די ידיעות וואס איך האב יעצט באקומען פון דארטן, איז דער מצב אין דעם פרט פון חינוך, דארטן א קריטישער, עס זיינען פראן - בלי עין הרע - פילע קינדער וועלכע ווילן לערנען ווי עס באדארף זיין אבער עס איז ניט[א] דער פאסענדער מענש וועלכער זאל קענען אנפירען דאס אז עס זאל זיך אויפארבעטען ווי מען באדארף.
ווען איך האב גערעט מיט אייער זון, ווען ער איז געווען בא מיר איז צווישען אנדערע טעמים האט ער מיר געזאגט אויך דעם טעם, אז ער ווייס ניט, ווי וועלען זיך באציען זיינע עלטערן שיחיו צו דעם, וואס לויט זייער מיינונג, דארף ער נאך א געוויסע צייט לערנען צוליב זיך אליין,
זיכער איז איבעריג צו מאריך זיין אין דעם וועגען דער נויטיגקייט פון לערנען תורה פאר יעדער אידן בכלל און פאר אינגערע בפרט, אבער ווען עס האנדעלט זיך וועגען הונדערטער קינדער וועלכע מען דארף ראטעווען, אז זיי זאלן בלייבען אידען, דארף יעדערער האבען מסירת נפש, אויף אפלייגען זיינע פערזענליכע ענינים פון שטייגען בתורה און אנדערע רצונות, און לכל הפחות א געוויסע צייט אוועקגעבען זיך צו ראטעווען אידישע זין און טעכטער פון דער סכנה צו פארגעסען ח"ו אין גאנצען אויף אידישקייט, און יעצט גראדע איז די צייט וואס אייער זון שי' קען אויפטאן אין דעם, און עס קען זיין בהצלחה, און מיר האבען אויף דעם די הבטחה פון רז"ל, אז ווען השי"ת זעהט אז מען טוט צדקה מיט זייינע קינדער און מען העלפט זיי צו ווערען אידען ווי עס באדארף צו זיין, העלפט ער - השי"ת - צו מאכען די הארץ און מוח פון דעם פערזאן, אלף פעמים זכים ככה, אז אין א קורצער צייט איז ער מצליח דאס וואס ער וואלט באדארפט אויף דעם זייער פיל צייט, ווען ניט די ארבעט פון דער צדקה וואס ער טוט.
איך דיינק אז עס איז איבעריג צו מאריך זיין אין דעם, או דאס געזאגטע וועט גענוג זיין אז איר זאלט זיך אריינטראכטען אין דעם צוגאנג אייערען צו דעם פראגע, און איך האף און בין זיכער אז איר וועט אויסניצען אייער השפעה אויף אייער זון שי' אז ער זאל געבען זיין צייט אויף דעם, און ווען אפילו עם דאכט זיך אז דאס איז א מסירת נפש פאר עם, איז צוליב דעם אז אידישע קינדער זאלן בלייבען אידען, איז דאס אויך כדאי, און השי"ת זאל באצאלען עם און אייך אלף פעמים ככה אין די אלע ענינים וועלכע יעדער פון אייך באדארף.
בייגעלייגט איז די רייד פארצייכנונג וואס איך האב געזאגט צו די תלמידים וועלכע פארען יעצט איבערן לאנד אין שליחות פון מרכז לעניני חנוך, וועלכע באמת שייך אויך צו דער פראגע פון אייער זון שי'.

I recently received greetings from you through Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n involved with tzt"z etc. Reb Mordechai Dov Telishevski, and also through your relatives who visited me. What I am writing to you now concerns your son, the vavac"h iy"a nu"n energetic etc. Reb... Surely you know he spent some time in Mexico and was involved there in matters of education, and thank G‑d he was successful, but later, for various reasons, he left there.
According to the information I have now received from there, the situation regarding education is critical. There are—thank G‑d—many children who want to learn as they should, but there is not the right person who can lead things so that it will develop properly.
When I spoke with your son when he was here with me, among other reasons he told me that he does not know how his parents will react to this; according to their view, he still needs some time to study for his own sake. Surely it is unnecessary to elaborate on the necessity of Torah study for every Jew in general and especially for the young.
But when it comes to saving hundreds of children so they remain Jews, everyone must have self-sacrifice—to set aside personal matters of advancing in Torah and other desires—and at least for a certain period devote oneself to saving Jewish sons and daughters from the danger of completely forgetting Judaism.
Now is precisely the time when your son can accomplish much in this area and succeed. We have the assurance of our Sages that when Hashem sees someone doing kindness with His children and helping them become Jews as they should be, He—Hashem—helps make that person's heart and mind a thousand times more refined so that in a short time he succeeds in what would otherwise take much longer if not for this charitable work.
I think it is unnecessary to elaborate further; what has been said should suffice for you to reflect on your approach to this matter. I hope and am sure you will use your influence on your son so that he will devote his time to this. Even if it seems like self-sacrifice for him, since it is so Jewish children remain Jews, it is worthwhile. May Hashem repay him and you a thousandfold in all matters each of you needs.
