Meir Fidelis was a correspondent of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The Rebbe addressed him in a letter dated 17 Teves, 5712 (1952), acknowledging his involvement with the Jewish community and his connection to Rabbi Shneur Zalman Taub.
The Rebbe’s letter to Meir Fidelis was sent through Rabbi Shneur Zalman Taub, who described Fidelis as an acquaintance and someone who was drawing closer to him over time. The Rebbe expressed confidence that Fidelis was using his positive influence to benefit his relatives and assured him that when one does good for a fellow Jew—whether physically or spiritually—G-d rewards such deeds manifold.
The Rebbe enclosed a booklet explaining the significance of the festival of Yud Tes Kislev, suggesting that Fidelis not only study it himself but also share its message with his relatives, so they too could appreciate the importance of this special day. The Rebbe concluded with blessings for good news both materially and spiritually, and noted that Fidelis could correspond with him in French if he preferred.
