Planning a Minimal Vacation Schedule for Torah Study

The Rebbe writes about the importance of preparing a special schedule for vacation days, emphasizing that the break should only minimally reduce Torah study. He encourages maintaining traditional Jewish practice, especially in Anash communities.

B"H, 23 Tammuz, 5711.

...It is certainly unnecessary to remind you about the need to prepare a special program for the vacation days, and that it is essential to arrange it in advance. As the saying of my revered father-in-law goes: "As one sets oneself up, so it goes," and this applies as well to conduct during vacation days.

For several reasons, it is proper to arrange that the vacation should be expressed only in a minimal and reduced amount of study, and nothing more—following the custom of Israel from ancient times. If such conduct was worthwhile in all cities and settlements, how much more so in an Anash community.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that even during vacation, Torah study should only be minimally reduced, and careful planning ensures that Jewish tradition is maintained throughout all times and places.
