במענה על מכתביו מח' וי"ב טבת, ובינתים בטח קבל מכתבי מענה על מכתבו הקודם שלו, נהניתי ממ"ש אודות התוספת בכמות התלמידים. ובודאי ישתדלו בזה ביותר וביותר. ותקותי שתתרבה ג"כ האיכות.
מ"ש אודות האברך... שי'... הנה אף שבדרך ארעי לאיזה ימים אפשר לנצל אותו באיזה ענין בעבודת החינוך, עדיין מוקדם הוא שיתעסק בזה בקביעות, כיון שעל כאו"א להביא בחשבון לא רק העתיד הכי קרוב וימים ספורים, אלא לחשב ג"כ התועלת בחדשים ושנים יבואו ולמשך זמן ארוך הרבה יותר, וכשישקוד הנ"ל בלימוד התורה וכו' בישיבה, הרי תביא זה פירות ותועלת גדולה, לא רק לו לעצמו אלא, ועוד יותר, בעבודת חינוך הכשר.
וע"ד ביאור החילוק שבין זריעה לנטיעה, שזריעת תבואה מצמחת לזמן קצר יותר ואז אין הריבוי כ"כ - משא"כ בנטיעה שהטרחה גדולה יותר והזמן לאסוף הפירות מתארך יותר אבל הברכה היא שלא לפי ערך. וכיון שאין הנ"ל מוכרח להיות בזה לטעם פרנסה - יש לנצלו באופן זה דנטיעה.
המחכה לבשו"ט בכל הנ"ל ובברכת הצלחה מופלגה לו ולכל חבריו שי'.

In response to your letters from the 8th and 12th of Teves, and in the meantime you have surely received my letter in reply to your previous correspondence, I was pleased by what you wrote regarding the increase in the number of students. Certainly, you will strive even more in this area. I also hope that the quality will increase as well.
Regarding what you wrote about the Avrech... shiyichye... although it is possible to utilize him temporarily for a few days in some aspect of educational work, it is still too early for him to be involved in this on a permanent basis. Each person must consider not only the immediate future and a few days ahead but also calculate the benefit over months and years to come and for a much longer period. When he diligently studies Torah, etc., in Yeshiva, this will yield great fruits and benefit—not only for himself but even more so for his work in proper education.
This is similar to the explanation of the difference between sowing grain and planting a tree: sowing grain produces results more quickly but not as abundantly; whereas with planting a tree, although it requires more effort and takes longer to gather fruit, the blessing is immeasurably greater. Since he does not need to do this for livelihood reasons, he should be utilized in this way—like planting.
I await good news about all of the above and send abundant blessings for outstanding success to him and all his friends shiyichyu.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that investing time in Torah study now brings far greater long-term benefit than rushing into practical work. Like planting a tree versus sowing grain, patience yields lasting blessings both personally and professionally.
