Letter #6072

6072 - Spiritual Refinement and Physical Healing

The Rebbe explains that because Hebrew letters correspond to the spiritual "skin," refining one's speech and increasing the study of Torah and Prayer draws down physical healing and protection for the skin. The letter emphasizes the importance of the daily Chitat study and avoiding idle chatter.

The holy letters of the Rebbe, volume 16, letter number 6,072. Baruch Hashem, the 23rd of Shevat, 5718, Brooklyn. Shalom u'Vracha.

In response to your letter of the 17th of Shevat, during an auspicious time, I will mention you on the holy Tziyun of my father-in-law the Rebbe with the titles for the previous Rebbe. And I will mention you as the request, fitting to the request that you write in your letter.

So the Rebbe says, based upon which is explained in several places in the Chassidic teaching, you need to add in being careful as it relates to wasted work, just idle talk, and certainly not prohibited talk.

So the Rebbe is telling him based upon what he's writing, some of the issues he's presenting in his note, that the Rebbe's going to pray for him at the holy Tziyun of his father-in-law. The Rebbe is coming up with his own suggestion based upon what the teaching of Chassidus tells us, that in your case—I don't know what he wrote—a good way to fix some of the issue is to be careful not to talk idle talk, Divrei Batelim, or certainly not talking words that are prohibited.

And the Rebbe says, "I'm only writing this as an addition because for sure you are careful without my telling you this." And the other thing is to increase in the letters of Torah and Tefilla, of speaking letters, of doing a lot of Torah and a lot of davening. Because the letters—the Rebbe writes that letters are like skin. He quotes the Torah Ohr 58:1.

Now, I have to look in there, but the point he is saying to him, something that he wrote about—maybe he was writing that he has skin issues or things like that, it doesn't say—but the Rebbe says the measure of Hashem is measure for measure, but many times as much. In other words, He gives you a lot more blessing, and spiritual and physical go together.

So the Rebbe says when you're going to—letters are going to be—first of all, I think the Rebbe is saying that you're going to be careful with what you speak, and then you're going to increase in speech of Torah and Tefilla. This is the skin; maybe your skin is going to improve. That's just what I'm deducting from the Rebbe's letter.

The Rebbe says, "For sure you know the classes of the Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya and you keep them." And the Rebbe says anytime you add in matters of Torah and Mitzvahs in general, that adds to the fulfillment of the person's heart's desires for the good, both physically and spiritually, with blessings for good news.

So the Rebbe is encouraging him to add more in his learning and in Torah and his Mitzvahs, because that's always—and that will help him improve, I guess, for the things that he was asking for.
