Shalom u'Vrachah!

It was with pleasure that I received the candles in connection with the upcoming days of Chanukah, and may it be the will of Hashem that, as explained in Chassidus (see Zohar II, 165b; Likkutei Torah, discourse beginning 'Vehayah Lachem LeTzitzis' (the second)), a candle is numerically equivalent to the 248 positive commandments and the awe and love within a person. May Hashem grant you merit to influence also with your own 248 limbs—that is, that your mitzvah observance be founded on awe and love, for then it is true fulfillment, as explained in Tanya chapter 4.

In anticipation of the upcoming Festival of Redemption, I am enclosing a continuation from the discourses of 5703, specifically the discourse beginning 'So says the L‑rd... My salvation is soon to come.' I suggested to Anash to study it during Yud-Tes and Chaf Kislev and on the fifth night of Chanukah—each one in his own circle. The main thing is to bring it into practical action, as our Sages ruled: 'Study is not the main thing but action,' meaning to influence others so they fulfill what is stated in this discourse. Then we are assured by Hashem that 'My salvation is soon to come and my hope to be revealed.'

With blessings for the Festival of Redemption.

Summary

The Rebbe encourages not only learning Chassidus but also inspiring others toward practical mitzvah observance rooted in awe and love. True fulfillment comes when study leads to action—especially during auspicious times like Chanukah and Yud-Tes Kislev.
