The holy letters of the Rebbe, volume 17, letter number 6,190. Baruch Hashem, dated the 23rd day of Nissan, 5718, Brooklyn.
The Rebbe addresses this letter with distinguished titles to the rabbi of Kfar Chabad, HaRav HaGaon, HaRav HaChossid, Shneur Zalman sheyichye Garelik.
Shalom U’vrachah.
First, the Rebbe confirms receipt of your letter dated the 11th of Nissan, which included blessings for Yud Aleph Nissan, as well as your report regarding the distribution of the Shmurah Matzah.
The Rebbe writes that certainly there will be additional details forthcoming, as was done in the previous year. It is also understood that there should be a written list of those who received the Matzah, including those Chassidim and members of Anash who are connected with Kfar Chabad even if they do not reside there.
The Rebbe then thanks him for his blessings and notes that these blessings are especially meaningful, coming from the mara d’asra, the rabbinic authority of Kfar Chabad, the village associated with the Previous Rebbe, his revered father-in-law.
The Rebbe blesses him in return with the verse: “Va’avarchah mevarechecha” — I will bless those who bless you.
May Hashem grant that you merit to lead your community in the ways of Chassidus, which are ways of pleasantness and peace, together with the true intention of our holy Rebbeim, whose entire purpose is rooted in the will Above.
For the foundation of all Chassidus is Ahavas Yisrael, love of one’s fellow Jew.
The Rebbe cites the well-known teaching repeated many times by the Previous Rebbe in the name of the Baal Shem Tov: one must have complete love even for a Jew who lives at the farthest end of the world, whom one has never seen.
From the opposite as well we understand the greatness of this matter: because of baseless hatred, we continue to suffer the entire exile.
How much more so does this apply in the Holy Land, may it be rebuilt and established, concerning which the verse states: “The eyes of Hashem your G-d are upon it from the beginning of the year until the end of the year.”
Although Hashem watches over every place, and stands over each person examining the inner heart and mind, in Eretz Yisrael this supervision is expressed in an even more revealed manner.
Therefore, all the more so must there be love, unity, and harmony there.
The Rebbe concludes with blessings for true good news in all the above matters.
