Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from 12 Iyar, in which you quote what the Abarbanel explains at the beginning of Parshas Behar Sinai, etc.
Here too is a wondrous point revealed by Chassidic teaching and included in the well-known teaching of the Baal Shem Tov: "Ki Tireh Chamor... Azov Ta'azov Imo" (If you see a donkey... you shall surely help along with him), specifically with the body (printed in Hayom Yom, 28 Shevat 5703). This is further explained in Chassidus: in the future, the soul will receive vitality from the body even regarding matters of G‑dliness. Although this topic requires lengthy explanation that is difficult to convey in a letter, nevertheless, the outcome and conclusion are clear: even though one must make an accounting of his soul and bodily matters should be secondary to those of the soul throughout his life—and all the more so during those years discussed in Abarbanel's commentary—this does not mean one's service should have no connection to the body. Rather, even bodily matters should be permeated with "Bechol Derachecha Da'eihu—Know Him in all your ways" (know G‑d), as explained at the end of Tanya chapter 3 regarding daas as connection and attachment. Through this, in all your ways—which are primarily bodily matters as explained in Tur and Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim siman 231—one comes to connection and attachment with G‑d. It is understood that then, automatically, there is tranquility of soul because bodily desires do not disturb; but this applies only to desire itself and not to eating or drinking itself, etc.
With blessing.
Summary
Chassidus teaches that true spiritual service involves connecting even physical actions to G‑dliness. The ultimate goal is for both body and soul to work together in divine service, leading to inner peace and harmony.
