Blessings and peace!

I received your letter regarding your son... that your son has already been married for several years and they still do not have any children.

The first thing that must be absolutely certain is whether his wife—your daughter-in-law—conducts herself as all Jewish daughters do in observing Taharas HaMishpacha (family purity). When one observes Taharas HaMishpacha, Hashem blesses with healthy children—healthy both physically and spiritually.

And it could be that if she has not yet observed Taharas HaMishpacha, this is actually a kindness from Hashem that they do not yet have children, because Hashem wants to bless them with healthy children both physically and spiritually.

It is not a question that sometimes we see those who unfortunately do not observe Taharas HaMishpacha and they seem to have healthy children; this is only because we do not really know what goes on in their lives. The pain parents feel from the wrong they committed against their born children in such cases is something they are ashamed to share, and they hide their deepest suffering and pain through various means. If it were possible to tell the facts—that most parents privately express regret over not having observed Taharas HaMishpacha, and about the consequences their born children suffer as a result—there would be little need to even speak about the importance of observing Taharas HaMishpacha.

I do not wish to hurt you, but as a mother and wife you should invest effort so that your son and his wife will observe Taharas HaMishpacha, as well as your other children. In doing so, you are not doing a favor for Hashem; rather, you are doing yourself a favor—to be protected from misfortunes concerning children and grandchildren, G‑d forbid.

With a wish that you will report good news—that you have begun to act on this matter successfully.

Summary
