Shalom u'Vrachah!

...May it be the will of Hashem that, as the Previous Rebbe would say, you should have a healthy and joyful summer. As our Sages say in Sotah 10a: Shimshon was named after the Holy One Blessed be He, as it says 'Ki Shemesh uMagen Hashem Elokim' (For G‑d is a sun and shield)—this also hints to the future when Hashem will take the sun out of its sheath—and the sun in its strength physically is during the summer months. This is also a lesson that spiritually things are easier in summer than in winter. Therefore, may you have a healthy and joyful summer both physically and spiritually together, and please send regards to your son and his family as well as your son-in-law and his family.

Blessings for long life and good years with all their meanings.

I was pleased to hear of your efforts to inspire regarding the necessity of avodah (service), and even though according to your letter you did not receive a written response, certainly every matter of holiness—and surely words of awakening included—have an effect whether it is seen with physical eyes or remains hidden for some time. See Kuntres Etz Chaim by the Rebbe Rashab (addition 3), where he writes that in our times the main effort of the yetzer hara is to prevent Jews from following the path of avodah; from this itself we understand how important this effort is. Enclosed are the kuntres and list published regarding Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz (the upcoming Festival of Liberation), as well as a copy of my general letter to Agudas Nshei U'Bnos Chabad—which really applies to all Jewish women—and surely you will use these materials appropriately wherever you visit.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that every effort to inspire others in holiness has an impact—even if not immediately visible—and encourages perseverance in avodah especially during summer when spiritual work comes more easily.
