I received your letter from the 27th of Teves and the one that followed...

May Hashem grant you—and us as well among all Israel—the merit to fulfill each person's mission in this world with peace of mind and body and with expanded awareness. It is already known from the ruling in the Heavenly Court that because of the self-sacrifice of our Rebbe, the Alter Rebbe, for the teachings of Chassidus, in every matter of Torah, fear of Heaven, and good character traits, those who are connected to him and follow in his ways will be victorious (see Kitzurim VeHe'aros L'Tanya p. 122). Therefore, it depends on you and within you—as explained by the Maggid and the Alter Rebbe on the Mishnah: 'Da Mah L'Ma'alah—Mimcha' (Know what is above—from you).

Regarding your notification about your birthday: May it be G‑d's will that you have long days and good years and that you spread light in your surroundings with much increase in Ner Mitzvah Torah Or (the candle is a mitzvah and Torah is light) and especially with the illumination within Torah—that is, the teachings of Chassidus.

The Baal Shem Tov's teaching about Divine Providence is well known (even if we do not always understand its hints). Since I recently received a photo from a letter of our Rebbe (the Rebbe Rashab) regarding someone's birthday in the year 'Chen', I am enclosing it here; just please return it to me by mail. Of course, if you wish you may copy it.
