במענה על מכתבו מט"ז כסלו עם הפ"נ המוסג"ב, הנה כשאהי' על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אקראהו שם.
ומה שכותב במכתבו ומרעיש בענין קבלת מענה על כמה וכמה מעניניו, הנה כבר כתבתי בארוכה בכגון דא לחבירו... ומהנכון שימסור הנ"ל לו עכ"פ תוכן מכתבי, והנקודה היא, אשר העבודה בקדושה היא לאט לאט וביגיעה, ובמילא אין לתבוע מהשי"ת אשר עמהם יהי' נס ולפתע פתאום בלא יגיעה מתאימה יהפך מן הקצה אל הקצה, ולאידך גיסא מובטחים הם ע"פ פסק דין תוה"ק יגעת ומצאת, ובפרט שזיכם השי"ת ולומדים הם תורת דא"ח היא תורת החסידות, ואף שלא בשקידה ומסירה מתאימה, אבל עכ"פ אפילו מעט אור דוחה הרבה חשך, ולא צריכים לעשות רעש וצריכים לשמור הבריאות בגשמיות, וכפסק הרמב"ם היות הגוף בריא מדרכי השם הוא, ולאט לאט להתקרב לעבודתו ית', ולא להתפעל מה שההתעוררות היא רק לרגע ואח"כ הולכת ועוברת, כי לזה יש עצה פשוטה והוא השקידה בלימוד התורה בכלל והשקידה בלימוד תורת החסידות בפרט, שהיא המביאה לאהבתו וליראתו ית', מובן מאליו אשר כל זה צ"ל מבלי שיהרסו סדרי הישיבה בה נמצאים, אלא יסדרו זה אחרי ההתייעצות עם המשפיע שלהם...

In response to your letter from the 16th of Kislev with the enclosed pan (pidyon nefesh), when I am at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may the memory of the righteous be a blessing for life in the World to Come), I will read it there.
Regarding what you write in your letter and are agitated about receiving answers on several of your matters: I have already written at length on such issues to your friend... It would be appropriate for him to at least convey to you the content of my letter. The main point is that service in holiness is gradual and requires effort. Therefore, one should not demand from Hashem that a miracle occur and suddenly, without proper effort, everything should change from one extreme to another. On the other hand, they are assured according to the ruling of our holy Torah: Yagata u'Matzata ("If you toil you will find"). Especially since Hashem has granted them merit to study Chassidus—the teachings of Chassidic philosophy—even if not with proper diligence and devotion. Still, even a little light dispels much darkness. There is no need for commotion; one must also guard their physical health. As Rambam rules: maintaining bodily health is part of serving Hashem. Gradually draw closer to His service and do not be discouraged if inspiration is only momentary and then passes. For this there is a simple solution: diligence in Torah study in general and especially diligence in studying Chassidus, which brings one to love and awe of Hashem. Naturally, all this should be done without disrupting the order of the yeshiva where you are; rather arrange it after consulting with your mashpia (spiritual mentor)...
