Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from Rosh Chodesh Kislev, in which you write that a doctor advises you to undergo surgery on your eye... Surely it is unnecessary to point out the importance of being careful with Kiddush and Havdalah, as this pertains to a person's eyesight. Likewise, increase strength in matters of respect for the Torah and its scholars, as it is written: Ki Ner Mitzvah v'Torah Or ("For a mitzvah is a lamp and the Torah is light"), and the measure of the Holy One Blessed Be He is measure for measure—to strengthen and increase the light of one's eyes.
Establish regular study sessions in both Nigleh (the revealed part of Torah) and Chassidus (the mystical part), with breadth and proper health.
With blessings for a speedy recovery.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that spiritual care—especially regarding Kiddush, Havdalah, respect for Torah, and regular study—has a direct impact on physical health. Strengthening these areas can bring about healing and increased well-being.
