עס האט מיך געפרייט צו זעען זיך מיט אייך לעצטנס און צו האבן א געלעגענהייט דורכצוריידן זיך מיט אייך בכלל, און בפרט וואס אנבאלאנגט דעם מצב פון מרכז לעניני חנוך.
וויסנדיק אייער טיפע פאראינטערעסירונג אין דער ארבעט פון מרכז לעניני חנוך, בין איך זיכער אז ניט ווארטענדיק אויף דעם צוריקקער פון אונזער גוטן פריינד מר סטולמאן שי' וועט איר זען טאן אלץ אויף ארויסצוהעלפן דעם מל"ח פון דער יעצטיקער קריטישער לאגע וועלכע דרויט צו פאראליזירען חלילה די לעבנס-וויכטיקע ארבעט.
דער אלטער רבי, בעל התניא, זאגט אין אגרת הקדש (סימן ט"ז), אז כאטש צדקה האט טאקע א שיעור לויט'ן דין פון שלחן-ערוך, איז דאס אבער רעכט אז מ'פירט זיך אין אלע הינזיכטען שטרענג לויט די דינים פון שלחן-ערוך; אבער אזוי ווי מיר אידן בעטן דאך בא ג-ט אז ער זאל זיך פירן מיט אונז בחסד וברחמים, דארפן מיר אויך אין צדקה פירן זיך אזוי, און ניט האלטן זיך שטרענג בא דעם "לעגאלן שיעור".
איך שעץ אייער הילף און איבערגעבנהייט צום מרכז לעניני חנוך מיט טיפער דאנקבארקייט, און אודאי טוט איר וואס איר קענט. אבער אין דער יעצטיקער קריטישער לאגע פון מרכז לעניני חנוך האף איך אז איר וועט טאן פיל מער פון "שיעור" און וועט מאכן א ספעציעלע אנשטרענגונג צו שאפן א צייטיקע הילף - א רעטונגס הילף - פאר'ן מרכז לעניני חנוך.

It gave me pleasure to see you recently and to have the opportunity to speak with you in general, and especially regarding the situation of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch.
Knowing your deep interest in the work of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch, I am certain that without waiting for the return of our good friend Mr. Stollman, may he live, you will do everything possible to assist Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch out of its current critical situation which threatens, G-d forbid, to paralyze this vital work.
The Alter Rebbe, author of the Tanya, says in Iggeres HaKodesh (section 16) that although tzedakah indeed has a set measure according to the law of Shulchan Aruch—and it is proper that we conduct ourselves strictly according to all aspects of Shulchan Aruch—just as we Jews ask G-d to act toward us with kindness and mercy, so too must we act in tzedakah and not hold ourselves strictly to the "legal measure."
I appreciate your help and dedication to Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch with deep gratitude, and I am sure you are doing what you can. However, in this current critical situation of Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch I hope you will do much more than the "measure" and make a special effort to create temporary assistance—a rescue aid—for Merkaz L'Inyanei Chinuch.

Summary
