... בנוגע למאמרים שלו, הנה קראתי אותם בהתענינות. ולפי דעתי, ונא לסלוח ע"ז, אינם ממלאים את הצורך הגדול של השעה, שהוא אינו להוכיח להדתיים שצריכים הם להקדיש זמן ללימודי חול, כי בזה "ת"ל" יש הרבה גורמים והרבה משתדלים, ולא על זה על כ' להשתדל. עיקר התפקיד צריך להיות לנצל ידיעותיו להראות כי אין המדע יכול להיות סתירה לדת, וכי לימודי חול בלי לימודי קדש לא יתכן. והגם כי כל זה מצאתי במידה ידועה במאמריו, אבל בלי הדגש חזק הדרוש בזה, - ההנחה שכיון שגם במדע לא הכל מובן ולכן אין דבר אם גם בדת יהי' חוסר ההבנה - לא תניח את הדעת אפילו של האדם הבינוני הרוצה ושואף להבין ומבקש הסבר וכו'.
ולפי דעתי יש לנצל את כוחותיו להראות כי המדע אינו אלא פרי השכל האנושי ורובו ככולו בנוי על השערות. וגם אנשי המדע מודים כן, במילא מופרכת מעיקרה כל אפשריות להקשות מהמדע בכלל על הדת או להביא סתירות ממקצועות של מדע כמו געאלוגי' או ביאולוגי' לדעת התורה, כי הקושיות והסתירות אין להם יסוד גם על פי המדע וכו'.

... Regarding his articles, I read them with interest. In my opinion—and please forgive me for this—they do not fulfill the great need of the hour. The need is not to prove to those who are religious that they should dedicate time to secular studies; in this area there are already many factors and many who are working on it, and this is not what you should be focusing on. The main task should be to use your knowledge to show that science cannot be a contradiction to faith, and that secular studies without Torah studies are impossible. Although I found this idea present to some degree in your articles, it lacks the strong emphasis required here—the assumption that since not everything in science is understood, therefore it is acceptable if there is also a lack of understanding in religion—this will not satisfy even an average person who wants and strives to understand and seeks explanation.
In my opinion, your abilities should be used to show that science is only the product of human intellect and is mostly based on hypotheses. Even scientists themselves admit this; therefore any possibility of challenging religion from science or bringing contradictions from scientific fields such as geology or biology against Torah knowledge is fundamentally refuted—since these questions and contradictions have no true basis even according to science itself.
Enclosed is the booklet we published in connection with the days of redemption—the 12th–13th of Tammuz—the redemption of my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal from his imprisonment by the Soviets. Surely you will find something of interest for yourself and your surroundings.
