... מבקש ברכה להצלחה בעסקו, וכנראה אשר כוונתו לעסקיו בגשמיות, וידוע פתגם רבינו הזקן אשר שמענו כמה פעמים מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, "השי"ת גיט אידען גשמיות און זיי מאכען פון גשמיות רוחניות" והי' מהנכון אשר יחליט בעצמו שמהריוח שיהי' לו בעסקו עד י"ט כסלו ר"ה לחסידות הבע"ל, הנה יפריש מזה לכה"פ מעשר לצדקה, והחצי מזה, לכה"פ, על מוסדות הקדושים אשר ע"ש כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נקראים, והם אהלי יוסף יצחק אשר בארצנו הק' ת"ו ובמאראקא, ובטחוני חזק אשר יוכל לאמר כי רואה גם בעיני בשר תוספת הצלחה מעת שקבל החלטה הנ"ל וכל המוסיף מוסיפין לו ותוספתו של הקב"ה מרובה על העיקר,

... Requests a blessing for success in his business, and it seems that his intention is regarding his material affairs. It is well known the saying of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe, which we have heard several times from my revered father-in-law the Rebbe: "Hashem gives Jews materiality and they make from materiality spirituality." It would be proper for him to resolve that from the profit he will have in his business until Yud-Tes Kislev, Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus approaching, he will set aside at least a tenth (maaser) for tzedakah. Of this amount, at least half should go to the holy institutions named after my revered father-in-law the Rebbe—these are Oholei Yosef Yitzchak in our holy land and in Morocco. I am strongly confident that he will be able to say that he sees with his own eyes an increase in success from the time he accepted this resolution; and whoever adds is given more, and Hashem's addition is much greater than the principal.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that dedicating a portion of one's business profits to tzedakah—especially supporting institutions named after tzaddikim—brings increased material and spiritual success. The more one gives, the more Hashem increases their blessings.
