מיט פרייד האב איך ערהאלטען אייער בריף פון ג' פרשת שמות, אין וועלכען איר באשרייבט אייער חינוך און לעבען ביז דער לעצטער צייט, איך שרייב מיט פרייד, וויילע איך האב פילע מאל שוין געהערט פון אייך, אבער ניט דירעקט פון אייך אליין, און איך האף אז פון היינט אן און ווייטער וועט איר שטיין אין שריפטליכע פארבינדונג וועלכעס וועט מיטבריינגען א תוספת אין תורה ומצות.
איר דערמאנט ניט אין אייער שרייבען, וועגען די קביעות וואס איר האט אין לערנען תורת הנגלה און אויך אין תורת החסידות, ווארום יעצט געפינען זיך בא אייך אין שטאט עטליכע יונגעלייט מיט וועמען איר קענט ריידען אין די ענינים און אויך מאכען א קביעות לערנען מיט זיי נגלה און חסידות, און איך האף אז איר וועט דאס ניט אפלייגען או איינארדנען דאס ווי מעגליך פריער, אויב איר האט דאס נאך ניט געטאן ביז יעצט.
וועגען דעם וואס איר באקלאגט זיך, אז איר האט ניט געהאט די מעגליכקייט צו לערנען אין דער יוגענד, איז צווי זאכען אין דעם, א) עס זיינען געווען פילע פון גדולי ישראל וואס צוליב פערשידענע סבות האבען זיי אנגעהויבען לערנען ערשט אין די שפעטערדיקע יאהרען, און דאך איז דאס ביי זיי געווען מיט גרויס הצלחה. ב) פון דעם איז אויך פארשטענדליך, אז דאס איז ניט קיין אמתלא צו באפרייען זיך אדער מאכען זיך גרינגער יעצט דעם ענין פון לערנען תורה און אין די פארשידענע מקצועות פון תורה ובפרט בנוגע צו תורת החסידות.
און בהמשך צו דעם וואס השי"ת האט אייך מזכה געווען און געגעבען די מעגליכקייט צו מחנך זיין אידישע קינדער, וועלכע זיינען ג-ט'ס ברוך הוא קינדער און מקרב זיין את לבם לאביהם שבשמים, איז זיכער אז איר וועט האבען סייעתא דשמיא, צו מצליח זיין אין אייער לערנען אליין און אויך אין דעם חינוך פון אייערע קינדער צוזאמען מיט אייער פרוי שיחיו, און איך האף צו הערען פון אייך בשורות טובות.

With joy I received your letter from the third of Parshas Shemos, in which you describe your education and life up until recently. I write with joy because I have heard about you many times already, but not directly from you yourself, and I hope that from now on you will maintain written correspondence, which will bring an increase in Torah and mitzvos.
You did not mention in your writing about your set times for studying the revealed Torah as well as Chassidus. Now there are several young men in your city with whom you can discuss these matters and also establish regular study sessions with them in Nigleh (the revealed part of Torah) and Chassidus. I hope you will not delay this or postpone it but arrange it as soon as possible if you have not done so yet.
Regarding your complaint that you did not have the opportunity to study in your youth: there are two points here. a) There were many among the greats of Israel who, for various reasons, only began learning at a later age, yet they succeeded greatly. b) From this it is also clear that this is not a valid excuse to exempt oneself or make it easier now regarding Torah study and its various fields—especially concerning Chassidus.
Furthermore, since Hashem has granted you the merit and opportunity to educate Jewish children—who are G‑d's children—and to draw their hearts closer to their Father in Heaven, surely you will have Divine assistance to succeed both in your own learning and also in educating your children together with your wife. I hope to hear good news from you.
