Shalom u'Vrachah!

I received your letter pleasantly, in which you inform me about the health condition of Haraha"ch etc. Moreh... as it appears from your letter that his health has somewhat improved. I hope that in your next letter you will inform me that his eyesight is getting stronger and that over time he will be able to write himself as well. May Hashem, Who heals all flesh and performs wonders, send him a speedy recovery.

It is known from our Sages: "Who is wise? One who sees what is born." Chassidus explains this as one who sees the birth of creation from nothing to something at every moment. As explained in Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah by Admor HaZaken, creation is not a one-time act during the six days of creation; rather, the word of Hashem brings all creation into being every moment from nothing to something. Similarly, in every Jew, physical health depends on spiritual health.

When one feels weakness in a physical limb, he goes to a doctor because we must act according to nature—the Torah gave permission (which also means power) to the doctor to heal. But attention must also be given to weakness in spiritual limbs—in this case regarding seeing what is born from nothing to something at every moment.

This is not just a sermon; rather, it is meant to encourage Moreh... to strengthen himself in studying Chassidus—beginning with learning the aforementioned Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah.

Thank you for your effort in conveying all this to Moreh..., just as you took upon yourself and were a messenger to write me about his condition. Surely you will also accept my mission stated in this letter and help him bring this into positive action.

Enclosed is a copy of my general letter regarding the festival of festivals—Yud-Tes Kislev just passed—and a list of things I said to the students when they entered me on the fifth candle of Chanukah. Also included is a booklet about Yud-Tes Kislev, which I hope will interest you.

Blessings that Hashem should grant you merit to share good news about improvement in the patient's condition and also report on your own activities in your city to bring Jewish hearts closer to their Father in Heaven.

P.S.: In 5688 (1928), when I was in Berlin, I once visited on Friday night at his father's house z"l. I remember that then his father [Rabbi Yosef Wallegemuth] taught Rambam before his family members; among those present was also one student from Kelm—even though I do not recall his name.
