במענה על מכתבו בו מודיע איך שביקרה זוגתו תחי' אצל רופא ומלאה אחרי הוראותיו וגם נסעה לחמי טבריא, ושואל חוו"ד אם לחכות איזה זמן או לילך עוד הפעם ל"הדסה".
הנה לדעתי, לאחרי חזרתה מחמי טבריא כדאי שתהי' עוד אצל רופא ואם יאמר לה שהצנורות פתוחים אזי יש לחכות איזה חדשים, ובטח ימלא השי"ת משאלות לבבם לטובה להפקד בזחו"ק בקרוב,
וידוע מכתב אדמו"ר הזקן, אשר סגולה להולדת בנים ובנות היא ההתעסקות בתורת החסידות המביאה לאהבת השם וליראתו, ומה שכותב שיש לו קביעות שיעור כל ליל ששי, הנה אין זה מספיק, ונוסף על מילתא דפשיטא שצ"ל לימוד החסידות בש"ק הרי עכ"פ נכון הדבר שייקבע עוד שיעור ב' ג' פעמים בשבוע במשך השבוע ג"כ, ואם באפשר יהי' הסידור באופן שלא יעברו שלשה ימים בלא לימוד תורת החסידות, כמובן זהו נוסף על לימוד בתניא כמו שנחלק בהמורה שיעור - לימות השנה -.
מ"ש במכתבו, שיש לו עצירות וכו', הנה כדאי לשאול עד"ז דעת רופא בהקדם, וכידוע עד כמה שגינו (מל' גנות) בספרי החסידות ענין זה ושכדאי להשתדל בזה בהקדם האפשרי להפטר מזה, ועיין ג"כ ברמב"ם הלכות דיעות פרק ד' הי"ג.

In response to your letter in which you inform me that your wife, may she live, visited a doctor and followed his instructions and also traveled to the hot springs of Tiberias, and you ask my opinion whether to wait some time or to go again to "Hadassah": In my opinion, after her return from the Tiberias hot springs it is advisable that she visit the doctor again, and if he says that the tubes are open then you should wait a few months. Certainly, may Hashem fulfill the desires of your hearts for good and grant you children soon. It is known from the Alter Rebbe's letter that involvement in the study of Chassidus—which brings one to love and fear of Hashem—is a segulah for having sons and daughters. What you write about having a fixed study session every Thursday night is not sufficient; in addition to the obvious point that there must be study of Chassidus on Shabbos as well, it is at least proper to establish another session two or three times during the week as well. If possible, arrange things so that no more than three days pass without studying Chassidus. Of course, this is in addition to learning Tanya according to the yearly cycle as divided in HaMoreh Shiur—"for the days of the year."
What you wrote in your letter about suffering from constipation etc.—it is advisable to consult a doctor about this promptly. As is known from how strongly this matter is criticized (using terms of censure) in Chassidic texts, it is worthwhile to make every effort as soon as possible to be rid of it.
