מכתבו קבלתי לפני איזה זמן ומרוב הטרדות לא הגיע התור לענות עליו עד עתה.
שואל במכתבו אשר מכיון שהוקל מעט הנסיעה לאה"ב, אם ישתדל לנסוע לכאן, אך רצונו להסתדר רק בתור יושב אהל, בתור ראש ישיבה.
הנה בכלל ההסתדרות כאן, בתור ראש ישיבה וכיו"ב, קשה היא ביותר, ובפרט להיות בטוח בזה מקדם, כי ענין כזה דורש חיפוש והשתדלות יתרה על אתר. מובן, אשר אם רצונו ויש ביכלתו לברר האפשריות בזה על ידי מכתבים מפאריז, יכול לנסות, אבל מסופקני אם יעלה בידו.
לאידך גיסא ההסתדרות פה בתור שוחט עופות וגסות אומן, קלה היא לפי ערך, ומשתלמת בכי טוב, אלא שלזה אפשר שצריך יהי' לדור בערי השדה. ואם מסוגל לזה ורצונו בכך, אזי נכון הדבר שישתדל בדבר ניירות לאה"ב. והוי' ינחנו בדרך הישר שיגיע למחוז חפצו, חפצו של איש הישראלי שהוא חפצו של נפשו האלקית כמובא בדא"ח מרמב"ם הל' גרושין ספ"ב, אשר פנימיות רצונו של איש יהודי, שזהו הנקרא חפץ, הוא אך ורק תורה ומצות.

I received your letter some time ago, and due to many preoccupations, I have not had the opportunity to respond until now.
You ask in your letter whether, now that travel to America has become somewhat easier, you should try to come here; however, you wish to settle only as a yoshev ohel (one who sits in the tent of Torah), specifically as a Rosh Yeshiva. In general, finding such a position here—as a Rosh Yeshiva or similar—is extremely difficult, especially to be certain of it in advance, since such matters require much searching and extra effort on site. Of course, if you wish and are able to clarify the possibilities through letters from Paris, you may try, but I doubt it will succeed.
On the other hand, arranging work here as a shochet (ritual slaughterer) for poultry and cattle is comparatively easier and pays well; however, for this one may need to live in rural towns. If you are suited for this and desire it, then it is appropriate that you begin working on papers for America.
May Hashem guide you on the straight path so that you reach your desired destination—the desire of a Jewish person being the desire of his G‑dly soul—as explained in Chassidus from Rambam Hilchos Gerushin at the end of chapter two: that the inner will of a Jew—what is called 'desire'—is solely Torah and mitzvos.
