I received your two pan notes, and when I am at the Ohel of my father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal, I will read them, and certainly he will arouse mercy for the fulfillment of your heart's desires for good. Surely you will inform me with good news about all that happens with those you wrote about in your pan...

Regarding your trip to Ireland: in general, it is appropriate to find a way that this journey will also yield spiritual livelihood. Of course, the importance of material livelihood is great as explained in Nigleh of Torah and especially as clarified in Chassidus. Nevertheless, there is something even more precious: a minyan of chassidim and temimim gathering once, twice or three times; hundreds of animals are slaughtered; one gets paid in pounds or francs; and then returns home—yet with physical eyes at least, one does not see in this any fulfillment of a mission in this world nor any particular refinement.

It is told that in the time of the Mitteler Rebbe there was an instruction to all chassidim who came to Lubavitch that before returning—or better yet while on their way back—they should review Chassidus in every place they passed through, even in very small towns along their route home. Even though the main purpose of their trip was to be in Lubavitch and return home, all those places they passed through were not considered interruptions but rather connections.

I am assured that after strong contemplation—as explained in the writings of my father-in-law the Rebbe regarding what true contemplation is—then despite the fact that the main purpose of your trip to Ireland is to earn a living for yourself and your family and return home, certainly also in the places and matters along the way you can accomplish something so it will be evident that this was done by chassidim and temimim connected to my father-in-law the Rebbe.

May it be His will that you find suitable work and an appropriate manner so that even on this trip you add at least a little light into the darkness of the world.
