It was with pleasure that I learned through our representative, Haraha"g vavaha"ch vavac"h iy"a nu"m oseik b'tzava ^[1], a man of many accomplishments etc., Moreinu Harav Reb Michael sheyichyeh Lipsker, about your devoted work for the education of Jewish children in general, and especially in supporting the Talmud Torah of the holy community of Midlet.

At the request of the above, I mentioned you at the resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m, for blessing and success in all that you and your household need. Surely the exalted tzaddik will advocate for you on high so that you and your family will be blessed with all good both materially and spiritually, never knowing any pain or harm or distress G‑d forbid, but only goodness and kindness all your days.

My revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m, explained in several places in his discourses on our Sages' teaching "Sechar mitzvah mitzvah," that the greatest reward for fulfilling a mitzvah is precisely this: that a Jew is given the ability to fulfill the commandments of the King of kings, Hakadosh Baruch Hu. Yet it is obvious and clear that as a secondary aspect to this great reward there is also reward for mitzvos both materially and spiritually.

If this applies to all mitzvos in general, how much more so regarding mitzvos that are good both towards Heaven and towards people—especially the mitzvah of Torah study which is equal to them all. All the more so when it comes to Torah study connected with educating Jewish children—a mitzvah which contains every virtue: Torah learning itself; bringing Jewish children to eternal life (through teaching them G‑d's Torah); and to life in this world (through teaching good deeds: good character traits, acts of kindness, charity etc.), whose fruits are enjoyed in this world while their principal remains intact for the World to Come.

The greatness of these fruits is understood from our Sages' story that as a reward for three steps taken by Nevuchadnezzar haRasha in honor of G‑d's presence he was granted sovereignty for himself and his descendants for three generations. How much more so does this apply to Jews who exert themselves with their very soul, body, and resources for G‑d's honor through educating Jewish children—may Hashem grant them abundant good both materially and spiritually to them and their families.

I am confident that you will further strengthen your holy work supporting and expanding the Talmud Torah in your city. May you be able to share good news about these activities and their fruits—as well as good news regarding your personal matters.
