Letter #6194

Letter 6194 – Settling in Eretz HaKodesh Means Living with Kedushah

The Rebbe responds to a request for blessing to settle in Eretz Yisrael and explains that the essence of the Holy Land is its holiness. Living there means a greater responsibility in Torah and mitzvos. He asks for Hebrew names with mothers’ names for prayer, and blesses that through following Hashem’s ways, all blessings will come.

בברכה לבשו"ט,

The holy letters of the Rebbe, volume 17, letter number 6,194. Baruch Hashem, dated the 25th day of Nissan, 5718, Brooklyn.

Shalom u’vrachah.

The Rebbe writes that he hereby confirms receipt of your letter, which was delayed in reaching him longer than usual.

The Rebbe states that at an auspicious time he will mention you at the holy resting place of his revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, in accordance with the matters written in your letter.

He adds that since the custom is to mention names in Lashon HaKodesh, together with the mother’s name, you will surely notify him of the names in that proper form.

Regarding what you wrote at the conclusion of your letter — that you seek the merit to settle in Eretz Yisrael — the Rebbe writes that to someone such as yourself there is no need to elaborate at length on the meaning of the title Eretz HaKodesh.

The very name “Holy Land” means that its essence is holiness. All the other qualities and blessings of the land come as a result and continuation of that holiness.

The Rebbe explains further: if in every place outside the land each Jew is commanded in Torah and mitzvos, then certainly this obligation applies even more strongly in Eretz Yisrael, concerning which the verse states: “The eyes of Hashem your G-d are upon it from the beginning of the year until the end of the year.”

Since Hashem does not make unreasonable demands of His creations, it is certain that He has given every person the powers and ability to fulfill His commandments and His will.

The Rebbe blesses that you should share good news in all the above matters.

He adds that one may rely with confidence on Hashem to fulfill what He promised in His Torah: “If you walk in My statutes… I will give your rains in their proper time,” together with all the blessings stated in the parshah.

The Rebbe concludes with blessings for good news.
