Hanhalat Batei Sefer Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch in the Holy City, may it be rebuilt and established quickly in our days, may G‑d be upon them and grant them life—Shalom u'Vrachah!
I am interested to know about the following details:
a) As has been heard here, the official end of the school term was in the middle of Tammuz. Surely, as is your good custom, you continued studies even after that. We are interested to know specifically for each school when they finished and whether the days of Yud-Gimmel Tammuz were utilized appropriately, since only from the Minchah school has information about this been received.
b) The official start of the school year, as has been heard here, is set for mid-Elul. It is understood and obvious that this is not sufficient to prepare students—even partially—for Selichot and the matters of the month of Tishrei. Therefore, surely in all schools studies will begin earlier than this; ideally at the beginning of Chodesh HaRachamim—that is, Chodesh Elul. Certainly arrangements should be made in advance so there will be no delays from various offices...
Looking forward to receiving a detailed letter soon. With thanks and blessings.
Summary
The Rebbe urges schools to extend learning beyond official dates and to begin studies early in Elul for proper spiritual preparation before Tishrei. Timely planning ensures students are ready for important days ahead.
